I've been working on this for about 4 months or so, I know the pics are not good quality enough I will take some more outside tomorrow.

One of my favorite models and you did a most excellent job on it. It puts you right in the Mekong Delta. Well done!

Thanks for the coments guys. From the time I first seen the kit at the LHS I knew I wanted to put it on the Mekong and months later after experimenting and researching different ways to make the water I found something called Magic Water it doesn't heat when it sets up so no melted plastic or any ill effects

A very nice model. The muddy water is superb.

A constructive criticism- I find scattering personal weapons around in dioramas to be a little odd. I would keep mine with me at all times, and probably where no one else could get to them.

I love it though and it motivates me to get going on my MAS boat in that scale.

Cool!

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Very impressive for a first boat.  Pretty convincing "water" too.

Looks great!  The diorama work is as nice as the boat itself.

Wow! The muddy water blew me away, along with the weathering of the boat! I must say two things. First, the lack of weathering of the ropes makes them stand out like a sore thumb. Second, the dock could use some weathering also.

thanks for the comment Jim, I think most of it is the flash washing stuff out a bit the deck got 3 washes of Tamiya German Grey and all the ropes got dipped in a brown filter from Mig not sure what one just grabbed a brown one and dipped them in. If I can find a day that its not raining out or over cast, then i'm gona take her outside for some better pics.

Thanks TD4438 really after I got the boat built I was at a loss on how to paint and weather her so I just went to the mind set that its not a boat its a tank stuck in water and weathered her as I would a armor project lol

Hi :

Now , you have me worried . Is that any way to greet anyone .? making them go through the muddy water to get to your boat or dock ? HmpH .The nerve ! Ah someone left this here gun out an there's no one around , think I'll go monkey hunting !oops , that's not P.C. is it ? Whatta job . You made me and my Marine buds who build models take a breath and say H%$** Yes , that is out of my memories , man ! Very impressive job . Now where's the crew ? Hunkered down in the boat sleepin or sumpin?.Write those men up for leaving their pieces unattended and unsecured !           Model On ! !     Tanker - Builder

Hey , Clint :

All kidding aside .You did a wonderful job and I do commend you for a fine effort .In the future comsider almost " Moldy " coffee to stain your wood before you add any other stains .it makes it easier to get a very aged or worn look . I still look in wonder at how you did the boat .Awesome , man

Tanker - Builder     Model On ! !         P.S. will you help me get the little fish and leeches out of my boots now ?

Coffee?? thats a great idea hmm that means that I would have to restrain myself from drinking the entire pot.

Yes , and let it age at least a week !

My first wife once made a pot so strong , no one , even I , couldn't drink it . We used wooden stirrers at the time ,on the patio and I saw what it did to the wood and saved the whole pot that was left (before she threw it out ) and let it stand in the garage for a week . I stirred it up and dropped a whole bag of stirrers in the pan .Wow , ash colored planks !

Two days later aged teak .So there ya go . Try it . This works real well if you get a brand called " LOUISIANE ". (It has Chicory in it )It may not be available where you live . If so use " Chock full O Nuts " brand . Folgers works too .Just takes longer .  P.S .   You still didn't say if you'd get the little fishes out of my boots , I got them pesky leeches !

I will tell the wife to pick up a small can of Louisiane so I can try this thank you. As for the little fishes try throwing in a bigger fish that should take care of them lol

Now for more serious matters .I want to know if you are coming to a show near me .Why ? If your first one is that good I ain't gonna put a model in ships and boats .You would blow me away ! P.S. I live in TEXAS hill country .

lol I knew that would work.

I'm sure it would be the other way around I'm no boat builder and I know nothing about boats except I need a geen and red light on the front end of my bass boat. I'm all the way up in Indiana never went to Texas before.

HI Clint, I was just on the phone with tankerbuilder, and he directed me to this. Brother, all I can say is FANTASTIC!!  WOW!

I do mostly armor and a/c, but he's been helping me thru the 1/200 Arizona(my 2nd attempt at a ship). He knows ship models for sure..

I just can't believe this is your first try!! incredible, just incredible.....

Thanks for the kind words humper I do mostly armor myself, this boat is more like a armor piece then a ship and so I went about it like it was a tank. I don't think I would try something like a battle ship I just wouldn't know where to start. I would like to see pics of your Arizona you should start a build thread here to show everyone how its coming along.

These patrol boats definitely were shot at alot on the Delta so you would see lots of "splash" damage on the armor around the guns and around the cabin. Maybe you can chip the paint a little to simulate bullet strikes.

Hey , RAMBO !

Wassup man ? Gotta tell you .Your modeling skills with this boat did the unheard of . It made this old floating ting modeler git out his version of that vessel .I am choosing to do mine as fresh as the day she was finished . I like shiny boats ,  I guess (you know , new shiny , not paint shiny ). Now , question , if you did this as a tank model , where's the turret tingy ? LOL .LOL .LOL  I still have a problem with my boots though .Now , I have to ask How do you remove a baby Bass that's already eaten the little toe ( Well , I thought it was a bass !  I never noticed the teeth ! ) LOL.LOL. I wanna see more of yer stuff .I bet it;s good .    Bye !

Hi :

Yeah , I always wondered why my Bass-Boat was metal-flake green .Shoot , it sure didn't impress the fish any .LOL.LOL.LOL. Now , I bet if you got your hands on the R.A.G. boat and the " Swift ", the first model of Viet -Nam boats MONOGRAM did , You would , with your techniques , blow the competition away. You make me hungry to see pics of more of your work .    Bye !

I have found a guy on the net who made the masters for masterpiece models and some AFV Club boats but I have tried contacting him with no answer as of yet (about 9 weeks). Masterpiece has seem to have gone out of business but there is a Zippo and a ATC that I really want to get heres a link
