I made the 1/72 Snowberry with a few changes. I updated and replaced the MG's and used the photo-etched metal parts when possible. I was very pleased with the outcome   I'm tackling the USS Ward in 1/72 scale now. She's huge. Almost 4 1/2 feet long

Well, there were only 2 94-foot ARBs built. One was destroyed in a fire.

Yeah ;

 That's her . I was wondering ( always have actually  ) If such a vessel actually existed . You know how the modeling companies are .I have a piece of ARMOR , A good looking thing . But I found out that only two were ever built .So you get the drift there .

    Tim ; I do appreciate you straightening me out on the other thing . I still have three Elcos from LINDBERG I have never built and a scad of different Airfix British Boats .They are fun to build !

Yes, TB, I have seen the LINDBERG USAF RESCUE BOAT. I have one. I had it built to represent the 94-footer the USAF ceded to the USN in the early 1960s, which used it as a Beach Jumper boat for a short period. lindbergboat31 by Tim Connelly, on Flickr Tim

 I appreciate this list and the site  . Now that said . I am sure you've seen the LINDBERG " Air Force Rescue Boat ". Any truth to these ?   T.B.

Well, Christian Capurro of Gibraltar has several PT hulls in fiberglass and in various scales, I THINK he has a Higgins hull. Just Google "Christian Capurro/MTB HULLS ....

It's okay ;

     I have always wanted to re-create her . Truth be said I have forgotten so many details of the model I am not going to . I talked to me son last night and he agreed . She's relegated to the past now , and there she should stay .

 I will say this though , I do wish someone would come out with a good Higgins type ( early ) and have it be correct . T.B.

TB, Could I ask you if you'd be willing to scan those pages of that notebook and email them to PTConsultingNHR@aol.com, please? Then, I could go to the people I'll need to go and show them what the notebook states and ask them, "What do you think it was?" But, I've got to tell you, TB ... From the level of criticism I received for just raising the question, and from what you have told me privately, regarding the guns' calibers, the two engines and the boat's length, I highly doubt it was a PT. I'm sorry.

TB I understand what you're getting at. But, the thing is, without photos, it's just hearsay. It is one thing to take the word of a friend who said the boat had this, this and this. No one I've talked to in the PT community can verify that there was ever a boat armed in the manner you say the Tulagi Terror was. I've taken a lot of criticism for even asking about such an armament package on a PT, with only two engines - as you once told me it had, ... that, and the fact that the guns you told me that she had would have put a tremendous amount of stress on the boat's hull and I wonder if the boat's two engines would have moved the boat with that weight. I know that you say that the man told you that he saw the boat and had pictures of the boat and that you believe him ... I need to see the pictures before I could tell you if it was a PT or not. And, from what those who know better than I about such things have told me ... I'm doubtful it was a PT.

Hi There .

 I found an old notebook , somewhat waterlogged and dried out .It has the parts list ( well part of it anyway ) for the " Tulagi Terror " .I can just make out the requirements for the build . I did definitely use a two wheeled field gun . Calibre unknown .

   I can make out Lindberg on the boat and Italeri on some of the other parts .She was definitely a mish mash of scales and parts .

 I cannot find or dig up photos . Gosh Tim , I wish I had enough to rebuild her . Just so you could see what she was . Before I knew they did such things to them .  T.B.         P.S  I do like the way Kyle has built these for you . You deserve the best . You have my interest piqued on the  1/144 - Flower Class ship now .

Dumb question but was "Hedgehog" installed on Saucy and if so when? Great build. Well done.

You have never been lost until you've been lost at Mach 3!

Hi Guys, I just want to add a post-script here on Kyle's workmanship on my SAUCY and my Tupelov G-5. He delivered them this past Sunday. He did an excellent job on both kits! The SAUCY was from the new Revell 1:144 SNOWBERRY kit and was built, basically, OOB - having a few scratch-built things, which Kyle can address better, and he used a necklace which he got at a craft store as the anchor chain. Although I know NOTHING about the FLOWER Class Corvettes (other than for what my dear late friend, John "Sir John" Lambert told me and what I read in his books), I am - from the in progress shots from Kyle and from seeing the finished model up-close - impressed by the kit and by his craftsmanship! The Merit 1:35 Soviet Tupelov-built G-5 MTB was built totally OOB and, I'll tell ya Guys, Kyle did an unbelievably excellent job on it! That is a strong testament to his ability as a modeler and to the quality of the kit. Sunday, Kyle did say that the G-5 kit was a better engineered kit than the SNOWBERRY in terms of the fit. I am extremely PLEASED and IMPRESSED by both finished models. Tim

Kyle sent me an update on my USS SAUCY overnight, and here is what he said, “Saucy got a second round of flat clear and was mounted to the base. Here is a test print of the signal flags. The printer is making them too pink, so I will resort to painting the excess fabric from the flags you sent me. I did a test last night and I'm pleased with the results. The clear cover over the radar went on and the guns are in place. Tonight, I will be doing the the remainder of the clear parts, begin the rigging, get the spotlights in, and paint the signal flags. I'm going to talk to Chris this evening and make sure I understand the rigging properly.” Here are some photos: Tim

Kyle just sent me an update, and this is what he said, “Some progress photos. The mast and ladder went on as well as the spotlight platform. I built the spotlights from styrene, they'll get painted white, black for the lens side and a drop of clear glue to simulate curved glass. Tonight, I plan to respray the flat clear, mount it on the base and start working on signal flags.” Here are some photos: Tim

Earlier today, Kyle sent me another update on my USS SAUCY, PG-65. This is what he said, “I went to paint the kit supplied anchor chain only to find that it was fragile and was already broken in a few places. I went to hobby lobby and got the smallest chain necklace I could find and used that as anchor chain. I also picked up some silver sewing thread to use for railing cables. I'm hoping today to remake the decals, get some work done on the bases and start some scratch building.” He also said that he’ll deliver both, the SAUCY and my G-5 MTB next Sunday. Here are the photos he sent today: Tim

Kyle sent me an update on my USS SAUCY today, this is what he said; “Some details added, anchors are on, oars and masts for the boats, and the flag staffs on the bow and stern. I also have fixed the rockets, I'll have to touch up where they were glued in. Next up will be the railing post and replacing the gun shield which broke off during the decal repair.” Here are six photos: Tim

Kyle sent me update regarding my USS SAUCY today, and here is what he said, “Well, here are the decals in the Saucy. Not as easy I thought to print decals, they do have a tinge of blue and you can see the white background from printing but I think they'll do. Everything received a coat of flat clear to unify the finish. Up next will be the scratch build parts and rigging.” Here are some pictures: Tim

Stick out tongueLooking good...I think those Hedgehog bombs are in upside-down, however...

Well that's embarrassing! It's been one of those days, they are held in with flat acrylic paint so I should be able to pop them out and flip them over.

Thank you for pointing that out.
