Yep...it will take some finess.....

But do what makes you feel comfortable......IMV sails can be done well or not.  I tend to use paper or at a minimum furl them.  Here is an example I did on a version I did of the Revell Cutty Sark about 25 years ago.  You can see the modified details I added...I would do things differently now-a-days. What I have decided to do on my Great Republic build is set full sails on her...but I will be using paper sails with leach banding and bunt line pannels/bands.  They will be fully rigged to include reef points.

I prefer paper because I can cut them to the shape I want...bend and form them.  I have used formers and even steamed them...allowing the water to make them pliable then as they dry the stay formed.

Fantastic...not to side track your log..but how did you attach the reef points to the reef bands.....just thread them through with a needle and cut off?

not sure rob , I think I tied a knot pulled it through the back and put  a dab of white glue on with a toothpick , I saw a gent do both sides by tying a knot , pulling it through and putting a knot on the reverse side  , too much for me .  with your expertise I'm sure you'll be right
