Hi,
Thanks for the heads up. It looks like my website's SSL certificate had expired, which may also explain why my images weren't showing up, as well. Please letme know if you are still having problems.
Thanks
Pat
Although it might not look like a whole lot of progress, I have been able to make some headway recently on this build. For the most part it has been taking me a lotof time trying to get the boot topping on, but I think I am almost done.
In addition, although I liked the Aqua upper hull color that I had been using, I was having a little trouble geting it on smoothly and eventually and with my poor eyesight, it was kind of hard to differentiate it from the turquoise I used for the hull bottom. So I ended up redoing the upper hull in Bright Blue. In addition I more or less have finished up cleaning up the aft swim platform.
So now, once I make a few final clean ups to the boot topping, and give the hull bottom one last coat of turquoise to clean up a little but of splatter, and replace one of the props that I acceidentally knocked off, I hope to have the base hull more or less ready for a gloss coat.
Looking great Pat! Keep up the great work.
Jim

On the Bench: Artesania Latina (aka) Artists in the Latrine 1/75 Bluenose II
I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Progress is looking very good and moving along nicely. Another example of a "vintage" kit being turned into a gem.

Looking spiffy!

George Lewis:
I've started adding a gloss coat to the main hull. The first coupole coats I tried with a brush, but you could see the brush strokes. So after waiting a day to dry I tried using one of those "sponge" type brushes and the clear (Pledge Floor Care) appears to have gone on a bit smoother. I may wait another day or two and try a final coat (or two) to see how everything looks.
In addition to that I alsopainted a lip around the upper bulwark to try and loo a bit like wood. Its hard to see below, but it is meant to look similar to what is shown in the bottom picture.
I also tried adding a gold rub on stripe, but it didn't look so good, so I ended up deleteing/painting over it.
Hopefully, after adding the gloss coat Imay try and polishing the surface just a little, and then try and finish off the back end, before starting on the main deck and deckhouse structure.
Its looking great. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the finished piece.
