I would love to PM you TB , but it isn't working , like a lot of things on this site , I don't know if the pic's are not coming up right , but in real life , I have coloured them with some watered down brown wood glue . they really aren't that white . but I'll to any advice you have to give me mate .

I think I have finished with the sails , still lots to do though .

      As to that Steam. Now here's a little note, I don't think Dr.Tilley passed along, But both of us knew it!. When You mount sails, No matter the method of Hemming or Edgeing them, they must be soft to hang right. You can spritz with a wee bit of very thinned starch and use a hair dryer to shape them Naturally. This usually requires a slight lean on the stand and LOTS of crew Figures.

       There-fore having the sails mounted they can hang fairly straight and somewhat flat. With a small Billow here and there! Unless they're furlled. Then you want the furling heavier in the middle and smaller toward the Yard tips. Also, If you don't mind my advice. Stack Paper Towels on the ship between the masts and then give all the sails a Spritz of strong Black coffee. They are too white for canvas. Then Sir, To the Museum She goes! If you wish, Message me, and I will share my knowledge with you off the forum. There's a lot.

     She's so gorgeous! you have got the touch. Keep on Keeping on. You must have a Fair Wind and Following Seas when you pick up your tools.  It shows! To finish out, here's a trick to take the Wrinkles out of the sails. Spritz it with the Steam iron just once! That will also help tighten any loose lines! Then Set back and hoist another! mate!

well I just bought a new computer , what a nightmare , I will have to take lessons to learn how to use it , windows 11 . took me 2 days to learn how to post pics .

    I was doing the "Flying Cloud" two years ago. 100% scratch for a Client in Baltimore. Went to the store to stock up on thread.The well known thread company , Coates and Clarke(They also were famous for Zippers!) Changes the names of their whole line of thread and bumped over twenty four new colors into the color wheel. Tan, became Mauve, and so on. So I had to buy their old style White Cotton thread and tint it in cold undrinkably strong coffee!

I know you weren't criticising mate , it's just that l found out too late , what colour it should have been . I've learnt too much off of you , to criticise you my friend .

No, No, No!

 I am not critiscising! I was just wondering cause I finished a client model a month ago(Finishing the last of the client stuff) I used a thread color called Foam Tan(from their Coffee Colors), and I thought you had too. Because in the hard photos I sent to them, it all looks white! The thread certainly can fool you on the spool.

TB - yeah I know now that the lines are the wrong colour , sorry about that mate , but it's too late to change it now I'm afraid .

well all the top mast sails are now on . on to the top gallant sails .

 I just noticed something , I forgot to do the top mast ratlines , boy are they going to be fun to do now .

That is understandable, Steve. I'd probably do the same thing.

aint it the truth TB , it never fails , as for the knots , it gets easier after the first 1,000 

steve , I'm not sure mate ,I can't see it around here , when my wife passed away , I think I had a bit of depression , as I threw a lot of stuff away , probably what happened to it . it would be great to see you do another ship , that would be something to look forward to .

Steve, you are inspiring me to build a ship. I still want to build the Mayflower. The Mayflower story inspires me, and that is just what I need to get through a build like that. I didn't finish my last one; what a painful and muddled journey that was. But, it was not so for a lack of people trying to help me. I think that as a modeler I was not ready for it. When I do start that again, it will be a complete do-over and a larger scale kit. We shall see. Maybe my next build.

Whatever happened to the Mayflower you started? You finish it? Shelve it? I don't remember seeing an outcome.

      You just proved something I have tried to explain to friends at the Museum. Just when you think you are making good progress, something happens to de-rail your timing. Well, you recovered nicely, And she still looks good to me. Plus, I am sure you are still in recovery from tying all those knots.

got the fore top yard and sail on , as well as the mock up for the flying jib .

back together , it's not perfect , but still together .

finally got all the stays and backstays on 

and then old 10 thumbs steve , appeared , turned the model around and it hit my hand , bam , off came the rudder , for crying out loud .
