I'm going to workon the Sovremenny when I have a chance. But I think I may need a bigger work place since the hull dwarfs my desk.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

I signed up on this GB with a 1/700 Burke, along with a couple other hulls, but I'm actually nearing completion of my 1/350 Burke. Am I gonna take a fish in the guts if I make a substitute, you crazy torpedo mongerers?

I know this is a bit late, but could I join this GB? I'm thinking of building the Airfix 1/600
HMS Campbeltown from the WW2 Destroyer set, or possibly the Tribal-class destroyer.

I originally thought of building my Chinese 1/200 Luda-class destroyer for the GB, but this is a large,
complex kit which will require a lot of extra detail and fine paintwork, and there's no way I want to "rush"
finishing it! The Airfix 1/600 destroyers are much more suited to a GB.

Jeff, I agree, after seeing Aimee's projects at her website and her postings on other forums, it would be a justice to have an article about her.

BTW, do we ever actually "finish" a model?Laugh [(-D]

Jeff, looks like I'm not going to make this GB due to the time it is going to take to remodel my basement, finish repairs to the house, and re-start my "frigate" project.

I'm still going to lurk in this thread however and support the other windjammer modelersBig Smile [:D]

Hi Jeff,

Graham here, great to meet you in Atlanta. Victory at Sea at 2am, is the way to finish a great Nats. Hope your ankle is better. I will help in the group build. I have a Captain class frigate, (Evarts DE) about half done, in RN colours. As soon as I have my main computer back up, rather than the wive's lptop, I will post pictures.

DURR: Have you tried "invisible thread?" I got mine, black and a clear-like light gray, at Jo-Ann Fabrics. Read about it somewhere. Works pretty good.

Hi Graham!!!

That's Scharnhorst, no, Gneisenau, there's Graf Spee....Prinz Eugen???

Ankle is feeling better, although I have to get the screw adjusted as it's starting to effect the canting of my foot...

Welcome to the group build...now that the Nats are over I can relax a little and get back into the build....

DURR,

Contact White Ensign and pick up some of their lycra rigging thread...it's perfect for 1/700.

Okay, just picked up 1/700 Fujimi DD-797 Cushing today. It was originally my first ship kit, but that one is too shameful to talk about. Hopefully this one will turn out much better.

One of my cats finally achieved her lifetime ambition and made it to the high shelves in my home office ... where I keep the ship models. I walked in and so surprised the little dickens that she got caught in some rigging, freaked out and did the mambo in fast-forward across the entire fleet.

Which means one destroyer for this GB will not be my 1/700 Arleigh Burke, but rather my 1/350 USS Cole. Safely packed away, though, were the Maille Breze and Gearing.

Besides the Burke, I had to deep-six my beloved 1/72 Schnelleboot, a 1/700 Yamato, An Airfix HMS Belfast and I may be able to salvage the Glencoe WWI Subchaser.

Please help me through this tragedy with humorous anecdotes of your own accidentally-destroyed warships ... misery loves company.

BTW - the cat is still alive, but has a limp that I told the wife was acquired in her fall from the shelves ....... ;)

Actually, I meant the tamiya DD-797. BTW, how hard would it be to convert the Cushing to another fletcher class, like say the Kidd (DD-661)?

MBT70- Ouch, that's all I can say, ouch. That's why I'm a dog person.
