cassibill, I have the Starships On the ... book.  Send me a mailing address and I'll send it.  I keep preaching to my kids -- give and you shall receive, or the more secular version -- "Pay it Forward".  Anyway, I gave sci-fi modeling a shot but didn't really get into it.  Since you are helping out Big Jake, I'll let you have the Rick Jackson book.  Who knows, maybe something good will come my way.  Like a re-release of some of those Aoshima/ex-Imai sailing ship kits!

It's one less thing to keep track of while packing and moving.  Re-uniting with my better half after a long seperation and I've been very busy working on the Trumpeter Mayflower, etc.  Thought I'd squeeze in a reference to ship modeling since that's supposed to be the topic.  She cleared out a big area for my model stuff at the house.  She even refers to them as ship models now, instead of calling them my "little boats".  Must be some serious honey-do projects coming up.  My e-mail is huffinator@netscape.com.  Do it ASAP though, as I'll be pulling the plug on the PC Thursday afternoon, and will be off-line for a few days.

Last night I was finally able to buy a copy of this book. I had passed up 2 other auctions as the bidding went too high. I think one book sold for $30.00 I got mine last night for much a lot less.

So if you still want a copy don't give up they are out there it just takes time to get one at the price you want to pay.

Here it is.

HOW TO GIVE A CAT A PILL:
1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left
arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on
either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to
cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop
pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and Swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa.
Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill

6) Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between
knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat.
Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing
wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's
throat vigorously.

7) Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill
from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains.
Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and

tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed
into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from
foil-wrap.

13) Tie the little @#*&*$'s front paws to rear paws with garden
twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find
heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth
followed by large piece of fillet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head

I think I may have mentioned this in another thread, but since this one seems to have moved into the feline realm I'll take the liberty of passing on the following set of useful instructions.

                                                How to Wash a Cat.

1.  Pour approximately 8 oz. of shampoo into toilet.

2.  Insert cat.  Sit on lid.

3.  Flush 6-8 times, allowing 20-30 seconds between flushes.

4.  RUN.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

Well I messed up last night and forgot to keep watching the bidding. I lost out on the book because of that. There is only so much time to do so many things. Maybe another copy will show up again.

I never really looked at what model my home scanner is.  My wife is the one who uses it.  I know its an All in One type, and that she leaves the lid open all the time.

Very funny about your cat.  I don't suppose he's into models too?

Cats are evil and mine is their queen, more likely Warlord.  I named her Katrina with good reason.  She also answers to "Satan", "Hell-Spawn", "She-who-casts-no-shadow", "She-whom-darkness-fears" and "Lucifette."

Mom and I both were trying to shoo sis's 10lb tomcat out of my room.  He just looked at us.  I leaned out my door and yelled, "Kat, somebody is in YOUR room."  Her she comes up the steps and Fluffer bolts for the door.  She's half as long and probably less then a third as heavy and he walks around her.   There's attitude, cat-itude, and then Kat-itude.  The other cats had best hope she finishes growing soon.  Of course her daddy weighed 20lbs and it wasn't fat.  If her feet are a clue, 10lbs. plus aren't impossible.  She's only about 9 months old and will likely grow another 9.

Sorry Jake about the filching of your thread.  Hope to finish scanning soon.  My cat has developed an unhealthy fascination with the scanner (warm, whirring noise, and a moving light, she's obcessed).  I'm also trying to do finals.  Ed got the psycho Trekkie started and that's bad.

I think it's probably the '89 release. (I was five that year. Kinda scary really.)  I have at least 2 sets of the 1701, -A, and -D display, possibly 3.  Family knows I like Trek and models, but doesn't communicate real well!  Maybe we ought to take this Trek talk to the Trek thread and give Jake his topic back.

I've got that set then.  Picked it up at a fleamarket with the 18" 1701 and the bridge in 1/35ish.  According to my little blue book, I have 9 Trek kits at least (I'm thinking more), including the 1/350 NX. I'd like the A to go with it, but who knows. It and the 1/1000 1701 are the only 2 of the 6 Polar Lights kits I don't have.

I wonder how big DS9 would be in 1/350...Evil [}:)] Its over a klick in diameter. That's over 36,370 inches, divided by 350= around 104".  That must be the scale of the filming model because they said it's 9' in diameter.  I wonder what Mom's plans for the rafter's of the workshop we're wanting to build this summer are.  I've got dibs.  Dear God, I think I'm nuts.

Thanks for the offer, Ed.  Is that spaceship set (pg10) the one of the Enterprise, Rom. BoP and D7?  If it is that is the only one off that list I have.

cassibill, The ST book is 104 pgs and, the covers are printed on both sides so that's 108 pgs. Here's the table of content. No Maquis Raider in it tho. If there's a section that you need, let me know & I'd be happy to scan it for youSmile [:)]  IIRC I got my copy through Squadron about Christmas time.

A couple of months I bought a copy that I found through ABE books http://www.abebooks.com/.  It cost me a total of about 30.00, cost of book and shipping.  I don't usually pay a lot for shipping but the copy I bough was from australia and cost me 17.00, with 13.00 for fast shipping.  I could not believe my eyes when I saw the price, and acted very quickly to get it.  Just keep trying places like ABE books, they do pop up for a good price.

That is the one, Ed.  Mom saw it it the Nov.(?) issue of FSM and then realized it was on the list I have on my wall of the kits, tools, references...I'd like to have(the wishlist)and figured she'd have me call and order over winter break as part of my Xmas.  Out of stock and print with no plans to reprint at this time.  If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have none at all.  Mom did give me a "raincheck" so if it comes back into print, I can get it. I'm trying to finish my already started kits so the Trek ones are down on the list.  The Maquis Raider is one I have started though so it will be one I finish.

I'm working on scanning the ship book guy. Counting the cover it is 68pgs.  I'm going one at a time and working on finals between so have patience.

I saw 2 used copies for  sale on Amazon. One was over $84 and the other $117 USD. Much more than I can afford to spend at this point.
