Could you be a "LITTLE SPACE GROUPIE"?

Is this how NASA plans to start funding the next big space effort, royalties from Dragon kits? I wonder whose instructions are worse? Whistling

I think maybe NASA made Dragons instructions? They gotta get money from somewhere.

Thanks for posting this Manny, I'm more into SF space than real space but after a trip down to the rocket center in Huntsville, Alabama I was pumped on doing some real space stuff. Sadly the more I read the more I learned that the Monogram, Aoshima, and Tamiya kits all have problems in some way or the other.

Anyone know if this is a new kit? It certainly looks better detailed than the older ones. Though I'm guessing the LEM can only be modeled with the legs in the stored position? Still it seems less work than modifing one of the older ones.

Hmmm the more I think about it, it does make sense. It is a NASA vehicle. Funny though, I don't remember Dragon being at Johnson Space Center when I took the tour. Well since I live here, next time I go I'll have to ask them where the Dragon instructions are made. Or.......is that Top Secret?

Visit their Dragon USA Online store and do a search on their site using the word "Apollo"...this is JUST THE FIRST of many releases they have in the pipeline...I laso like the scale of 1/72nd they chose for this subject...not too small, not too big...

That's cause with the shuttle program all but over, they have to find something complicated to do.

I think the kit looks very slick indeed.          And a bit of a soft spot for me...  I have / had a few family members who work(ed) on the space program (Florida).

Sad to see the program come to an end (in my opinion)....   Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle,      Zippo

Enjoy the ride!

Me likey too.  I think Dragon chose an interesting configuration to model.  If the LEM legs could be built in the deployed configuration, that would be a bonus.  A 1/48 LEM is also in the pipeline.  I am not 100% on board with the molded-in foil covering, but I'll just wait and see how it looks.  I mean, it's DML, the company that brought us lazy but grateful modelers molded-in zimmeritt.  Could 1/35 scale Gen-2 Apollo astronauts be next?

I hope this series takes off (pun intended!) and Dragon kits other realspace subjects.  I'd love to have a Skylab in 1/144.  How about a Soviet N-1 moon rocket?  I know Realspace Models makes one, but I have had the opportunity to examine the kit up close, and it is pretty rough.  Those funky lifting body testbeds (M2F2, HL10, X-24A/B) in 1/72 would be really nice as well.

Thanks Manny, duh I shouldn't have just looked at Dragon's website in the first place instead of being lazy and asking stupid questions Dunce

http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/prodsearch.asp?txtSearch=apollo

Lotsa nice stuff, both models and the pre-built collector's stuff. My only question is I'm just wondering if some of it may be the Aoshima kits reissued under the Dragon name with some new parts and PE added. I've read the Aoshima kits were some of the less detailed as opposed to the Monogram kits being the best.

Still I really like what I see.

Just popped on this kit, from of all places at Amazon...they have a fairly decent selection of kits that usually beats others in cost and have an outstanding ordering and distribution system that is second to none...

I wouldn't get all excited over this if I was you ... there are so-o-o many inaccuracies with this new tool LM on this kit that ... it would be like seeing a new tool Spitfire with wings too short, fuselage too squat, antenna in the wrong position, landing gear that's too short and a canopy that's too small.

Yes, the wrinkles are molded in ... but-t-t ...

Maybe so but this MOJO came in the mail today and if the moldinga are inaccurate they sure as heck look fabulous!!!  All I can type is "WOW"...Dragon gave this subject their usual royal treatment and I've never seen crisper and sharper mouldings...
