Walmart Color Place Spray Paint

Test it on an uneeded part, also it can be safer to prime the part first as some agressive paint melts plastic.

I've used and still use Color Place on plastic models without a problem. They do have a very limiited selection of colors. I mainly use the "flats" black, white, and grey for priming.

Does it say on can what type of chemistry it is?

Many paints these days are acrylic.  Even if it says enamel, it may be acrylic enamel.  In general, most acrylics (at least those that air-dry) are safe with plastics, but like someone else said, it is easy enough to run a test on a piece of sprue.

It bothers me that the labels these days are so uninformative.  They do not differentiate between acrylic and solvent enamels and lacquers.

i'll test it for awhile.

i'll use the color place and try the krylon and anything else

in that price category at wally world.

read that not the rustoleum, great stuff but a little overkill for this.

this can of color place has some ingredients in warning part.

contains: aliphatic hydrocarbons, ketones and toulenes.

sounds like enamel enamel to me.

I've used their grey primer on several things, in fact I just finished a can and plan to get more of the same stuff.

I noticed a change recently in Rustoleum primer. I used to use it, but lately the stuff has not been reacting well with plastic.

be a little on the thick side.

i'll give a report on what walmart here has.

they have a bunch of spray paints.

For primer you might also try Duplicolor and Plasticote. Mainly available at auto supply/paint stores.

i'm sticking with walmart, so i can get them when i'm there anyhow.

i've got a ton of Testors acrylics maybe i'll tough out the air brush thing.

does walmart have Propel cans or something that will work?

here's the color place colors, red, blue. green. gloss black & flat black and white.

they have Rustoleum, Krylon & color place.

maybe i did away with the grey primer.it might of been there,

i wasn't paying attention to the primers.

i did look for duplicolor and plasticote, no got!

the paint guy said to test paints first and

steered me to krylon for plastics.

What bothers me about this subject is, why go cheap on paint when you have invested quite a few bucks in a nice model?  Saving a buck or two doesn't make sense to me, when you can get good quality model paints that you know will be successful.  A little goes a long way and can be used for many models to come, and the savings per model is neglible with questionable paint.

you're saying $14 for a kit from Hobblinc is a major investment and

then saying pay $7 for litttle can of spray paint is being economical.

so which one is it? do you want it both ways?

well, i must have seen the primer sometime!

i just noticed i've got 2 cans of it here for another project.

color place #20010 gray primer.

that's a good shade of primer.

can i paint this model without primering it?

picked up 3 cans of color place yesterday.

gloss white #25000 ( look at little tag and make sure whether it's gloss or flat! )

Royal Blue #25001 might be a little darker than standard blue

Flat Black #25004 cap is flat black

gee that '55 Corvette's going to look sharp!

I've used color place spray paints , but not for models . The problem i have with is that the cap color will not match the contents color . I'm talking bright yellow looking more like a mustard yellow , flat black being a dark gray ......etc.

Strange.

My walmart(s) do not have Color Place green or grey primer.

Hey guys , i'm not saying the Walmart in Spokane always has all of those colors . Its only by vhance that i found those colors on the shelf . Most of the time its only gloss black and light gray . You know Wal-mart .........they always seem to be changing what they stock on the shelves .

home depot people at mine are excellent.

I build mostly armor so those are armor type Group Build badges that i have participated in my signature .I'll look at the selection of paints at Home Depot next time i'm there . Thanks for the offer . Potato's are expensive to mail .................LOL !

house brand 'painters choice' or something was

$3.50 so it's equal to walmart krylon.

when you go to store they might have $1-1.50 brands or type.

painting with color place spraying cans is working

out very good.
