I'm looking for advice on which Krylon gloss black to use for an Alclad primer for by 1/48 Revell B-29. Iill be airbrushing Alclad Polished aluminum on the beast. I've read about Krylon Gloss Black and also Krylon Fusion Gloss Black
Why not use the Gloss Black base from Alclad? I use it all the time and it works great. Its very glossy and dries in minutes.

Thanks Fy-n-Hi I've heard a lot of horror stories about it not drying for days, obviously you haven't had this issue?
I've used a couple of the Alclad primers now. They dry pretty quick but I do let them have a day to cure. Clean your airbrush right away as I've found its a nightmare to get out even after as little as a couple of hours, and don't do it in the sink like I did once, took me an hour to clean the sink after

Have not used Krylon black. I should- I use a lot of Krylon stuff. Only concern is thickness of coat.
I have used auto body acrylic lacquer blacks of a couple of brands. They work well- the Alclad does not seem to affect them.
I was not impressed with the Aclad black primer. Still have most of the bottle. Not as shiny as the other gloss blacks I use, including Testors gloss black. The Testors gloss black is the usual base I use for Alclad if I use my airbrush. But the spray can acrylics are good for a quick undercoat on a small part.

leardoc Thanks Fy-n-Hi I've heard a lot of horror stories about it not drying for days, obviously you haven't had this issue?
This QC issue was only for a little while and they have fixed the issues. Now, the Gloss Black Base works as advertised.
I had unknowingly purchased one of the bad bottles of the GBB and I wrote to Alclad II asking them if I was using it incorrectly. The head guy (I don't remember his name) wrote me back explaining the quality control issue and sent me a new bottle at no charge. It made a really good impression on me.
Here it is in action on an F-16 exhaust nozzle. You can be the judge of whether or not you think it looks good:

Thanks.....Looks real good! Since I already painted some of the parts with Krylon Fusion I'll see how it comes out. I will post pictures soon. Thanks Again
