Masking Question
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, October 17, 2005 7:30 PM
I was wondering, do you remove a masking tape mask before or after the paint is dry?

I remove it right after I paint the model. I've found that if I leave it on for a while there may be a chance that the still wet paint will run under the tape if it hasn't already. just my My 2 cents [2c]

I usually paint in relatively thin coats so effectively everything that is masked has been left to dry several times already. After the last coat I usually go ahead and pull the tape, but even then the paint is usually dry to the touch since I normally paint with acrylics.

Same here. Several light coats helps keep paint from "wick-ing" under the tape.
