Chat is something I'm willing to push for if there's enough interest among the forum members and we can muster the technical resources to do it (
after we take care of some other lingering issues on the site that need fixing). We certainly want to provide the features our community members (i.e., our customers) want, but I have to confess, the allure of "chat" escapes me. It seems like e-mail and discussion forums should cover any necessary group or one-on-one communication. How is chat useful?
My other question is why is it so necessary that FineScale.com provides it? I mean, there are other providers of free chat functions (e.g., Yahoo, MSN) on the internet. Don't they pretty much have it covered? Or is it a matter of convenience--you don't have to register at other sites and move over to them to carry on a chat session?
Enlighten me, folks, while I work on my sales pitch.
