New Forum..Scratchbuilding

I think it's a very good idea, too.

I'll talk to the folks in our online department and I'll see what needs to happen to get that done.

When I was working as a newspaper journalist I used to build a lot of flying scale models (the stick-and-tissue ones) because I had access to plans from the library, and more importantly, the raw materials were very inexpensive. That's when I learned to really read (and scale) plans and three-view drawings, and how to turn a pile of sticks and balsa sheet into a scale replica. (The fact that they actually flew, too, really added to the satisfaction!)

And yeah, I ended up goofing up a pile of raw materials, but there's always the chance to try again.

Definitely the kind of effort we should support here on the FSM forum!

am I to understand that idea's only get approved if the staff like them? I wish you could have been as enthusiastic as this when many more forum members asked for a critique forum.

As the thread asking for a critique forum has been locked and you are actually responding to this topic I thought I'd leave my two cents here. I am not impressed. 

My apologies to everyone else for butting in. I had to say something. 

For the record, I support your idea for this new forum and hope works out.

To answer your question, yes, as representatives of the company, I suppose the staff needs to think a suggestion is a good one to get it implemented.

As I explained in another forum earlier today, none of the staff members is a full-time moderator, and to be honest, I don't have time to catch every post. I didn't see the critique forum until you mentioned it here. And to be honest, I don't know that I disagree with Amanda's take on the situation, but I'll happily consider the situation.

thank you for your consideration, thats all myself and the others wanted. If the answer is "No." we can live with that. All I ask is that you examine members reasons for wanting such a forum in the first place. I can assure you our reasoning was for the greater good of all forum members.

I'm fairly new here, but I'd like to add my support for a scratchbuilding forum.

The only thing I'd like to check out is, how easy is it to post pictures?

Hmmm,...... I just tried, you can only post images which are being hosted on another URL. You can't upload one from home. It would be heaps easier, and would make a scratch building forum alot more useful, if you could just take a quick photo of what you're talking about and upload it straight to FM, rather than having to host it somewhere else.

Just a thought.

A Scratchbuilding Forum is the best idea I've ever hear down here.  I vote for that too.

Just kidding. Can't wait for this new forum to get off the ground. Should learn some valuable stuff.
