UNABLE TO POST PHOTOS FOR 3 YEARS NOW
Posted by Wilbur Wright on Sunday, March 8, 2009 5:06 PM

I have my photos in a folder in Image Venue, (I use Firefox),  i thought it was my old computer, now I have a new computer with vista premium.

Evey single attempt, using everything I can see, in every combination and I cannot get photos posted in these forums.

Can anyone help me before I give up for good.

I have also read the sticky tutorial to no avail. What is the problem?

Thanks

You first need to have a computer that can be reached via the internet. Usually that's done via paying a fee to have one hosted as a service somewhere or you can try some free web hosting or picture hosting site to upload your pictures. Leaving them on your computer will not get it posted on this forum. Does this make sense?

Clearly I am on the internet.

I have broadband and a very powerful computer, and as stated have uploaded my photos to imagevenue.

Can anyone help?

am I choosing the wrong option from Imagevenue? (I choose the one for message boards then past in the photo window.

What am I doing wrong?

Don't know what your technical knowledge base is, so just trying to help by starting from the beginning.

Not that familiar with Imagevue, but it looks like it creates flash gallery/slideshows for you. Which obviously can't be linked to for displaying here.

Can you post an example of a link to the JPG file you want to show? You can't paste a photo directly into the forum, you can only paste a link to the photo in the forum.

I'm not familiar with Imagevenue, but their FAQ says you cannot hot link images without paying for their "premium" service.

I suggest using Photobucket, or Imageshack, or even Flickr. I have created a tutorial for using Photobucket /forums/654172/ShowPost.aspx which is basically the same for all formats.

What you want to end up seeing in your post before hitting submit is something like this:

[ img ] imagenamehere [ /img ] only without any spaces.

Good luck!

Bill

Edit I've just had a read through the rest of the FAQ on Imagevenue. I'd get off that ASAP, as their service sucks. You can't delete images without sending them an email requesting it? Ridiculous! /edit

So long folks!

Thanks men I'm going to photobucket. I had thought it was my last computer causing the trouble as it had windows 98 on it.

I appreciate the responses

You're welcome. Note that the tutorial is a bit out of date, they've updated the interface since I put that together, but the basics are the same. Register, upload and paste the img tag into the post. If you're using Firefox, you'll have to use the Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste as this Firefox doesn't support right click context menusfor this forum.

I use Firefox as well, and if you are uncomfortable using the Ctrl C and V commands, you can also go up to the top menu bar and under the box labelled "Edit", you can find the "copy" and "paste" functions there as well.

Bgrigg- I have sent a number of people over to your tutorial, it's awesome! Bow [bow]
