The other day I started getting a large pop up in the center of the screen in addition to the green line pop up at the bottom. Have to scroll around just to be able to get at the "X" to close it. Been a subscriber for quite a few years now and this is starting to get annoying. From what I've read, this can be fixed. How much longer will it take?

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

It looks like the popup might be gone.  I didn't see it just now, when I accessed the site.

Can't x it off if you are not a subscriber, as I am not.

I agree.  Add me to the list of "highly annoyed" subscribers.

There must be a way they can separate the non-subscribers and direct their spam at THEM ONLY.

Gee....thanks guys. BTW you subscribers are not financing this website; the ads on it are.

I don't particularly get annoyed at pop ups- that's life in the 21st. But there's one type I can't stand.

It appears at the bottom third of the text area of the screen and obscures the bottom posts. It cannot be made to go away without leaving the subject.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

..and it is all small stuff. Tim, if you guys can get this fixed, I may reconsider. Being in IT and such since 1980, I can speak with a bit of experience - this should not be a tough thing to fix, if the marketing folks wanted it to be fixed. You populate the pop-ups with my information, so obviously the db that holds it is being accessed. We'll see.

Hi guys,

I'm sorry that the promotional overlays have become an issue again. We're currently retooling how they are seen. Also, I think that due to some of the system maintenance we've undergone in the last couple of weeks, some of the promotions may have been reset to display to everyone rather than their intended targets. So, we're trying to clear that up, too.

The promos will not completely disappear. However, if you're a subscriber, you shouldn't see as many of them as many of you are reporting. Bear with us as we tweak the system.

Geezer, I'm sorry we're losing you as a subscriber. I hope you'll rejoin us sometime down the road.

Regards,

Tim

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

That's not really accurate.

There's free content on the website and it can be accessed by anyone. It's perfectly reasonable to spam advertisements at the non-subscribers surfing the free content. That's the entire point of having a free section - draw them in, impress them with the quality of the content, and convince them to become subscribers. I have no problem with any of that.

There's also subscriber-only content. It's NOT free. It's part of the package that I bought when I subscribed to the magazine. I don't appreciate getting spammed by irritating pop-ups while I'm trying to access the content that I paid to access.

I love the magazine, but OH MY GOD, STOP PESTERING ME!

So yeah, great magazine. I have the digital edition and I'm really enjoying it. That's not my primary concern.

Getting subscriber access to your website was a confusing pain that took way longer than it should have, but that's not my primary concern, either.

My primary concern is that your marketing people will not leave me alone! I'm getting tons of "PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!" spam e-mails. Every page load seems to get me a "PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!" pop-up. There's a "PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!" banner across the bottom, or sometimes middle, of my page. People, I already flippin' subscribed, but I'm not going to do it again if you don't stop bothering me.

My subscription runs out next July. Please let marketing know that I'm open to discussing a renewal next June, but not before. And keep up the great work on the excellent magazine.
