I have been modeling aircraft since I was a wee lad from 1966. I have never used an airbrush, are there any videos or input from fellow modelers on how to get airbrush virgin pointed the way, painlessly.

You're kidding! See: Home»Discussion Forums»Tools, Techniques, and Reference Materials»Painting and airbrushing Techniques, airbrushing advice, compressors, and spray booths.

But as to some advice: Get yourself a book on airbrushing, ANY book on airbrushing, it doesn’t matter whose. The basics are still the basics. (Kalmbach won’t appreciate my counsel, but you can save yourself a little money by visiting your public library.) Read it. It won’t make you an expert, but it will answer most newbie questions.

Also there are some paint effects that are next to impossible to accomplish without an airbrush. Next to impossible, not impossible. Otherwise, a brush is just fine. (Some real-world armor, viz. WWII T-34s, were painted by soldiers using brushes, not a spray gun, and looked like it.) What are you planning?

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

You may like to check out Don Wheeler's airbrush page. https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/ Don's a regular visitor on this site, so if you have any questions, he'll probably be around to answer them.. Smile

Hey Pat, There are indeed a plethora of sources to assist you in learning to airbrush. As already mentioned the painting and airbrushing forum here is an excellent source as is Don Wheeler's site. There is also a wealth of how to airbrush videos on You Tube as well as on some of the manufacturer sites. Again, numerous  books also. But, as stated, these are great for getting you started but the most tride and true method is to simply load 'er up and practice, practice, practice. In addition, the folks right here are the most helpful when deciding which airbrush, compressor, etc.. to start out with. Enjoy airbrushing as it will enhance your modeling like you never believed.

The key is PRACTICE.

Articles and books help, but every kind of airbrush has its own pecularities.

....working my way up the airbrush learning curve......

Dont forget You tube. There a number of folks on there who wont make you an expert but they will go over the VERY VERY basics of airbrushing. For me it's always helpful to watch somebody do what I'm trying to learn.
