Hello from Winchester, VA
Posted by Serrecko on Sunday, November 16, 2014 1:16 PM

I am getting back into the hobby of building models and there is no better place to start then the forums of this great magazine.  I have been reading this thing since I was a kid!  My father was a model builder and he got this magazine and others, and would hand them to me when he was done.

After not building a model in probably 30-35 years, I'm ready to give it a go again.  IF you really want to know why, please read my profile.

I am so happy to be here......

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I say WELCOME to a fellow modeler, fellow Virginian and fellow Redskins fan.  I live in Green Bay now but I grew up in Northern VA watching Joe Theismann and cheering on the Redskins ever since I was a kid in the 1970s.  While I still love my Redskins, I'm also a die-hard Packer backer.

I'm glad to see you've joined this, the best modeling forum out there!  Here you'll find the friendliest and most supportive group of guys on the web.  Start asking questions and posting pictures.  Don't be shy.  Heck, I've been building models for probably the past 37 years and I'm STILL asking questions!

Best wishes,

Eric

PS.  Have you ever looked up to see how many times Winchester changed hands during the Civil War?  Yikes!

Hi ya Eric!

Winchester, VA was traded 72 or 73 times during the civil war.  My grandmother's house is almost at the center of the town, and while I was a kid, digging in her backyard like normal kids do, we would pull out bullets and belt buckles, and all kinds of things.  From both sides too.  I think one summer we pulled out at least 2 coffee cans full of bullets.  The Minie Ball types.  But anyway....

I am a lifelong Redskin Fan, have been since the Vince Lombardi year in 1970, and all through the great years with Gibbs and Theisman, Riggons, Williams, etc., BUT I am also a Packer Fan through marriage.  My wife was in love with Favre, and I sorta started rooting for the Packers and a few years back I bought a share of them and bought a share for my wife and stepson.  SO, I guess I am now a die-hard Packer fan and I have no problem with that at all.

I do remember the lean years the Packers had, but I always looked up to Bart Starr, and the rest of the old school Pack.  So, enjoying the Packers now, is easy, and I will be there to support them if they end up going back to the lean years, just like I support the Skins.

Anyway, I think I will enjoy it here on these forums.  I love forums.

Welcome back to the hobby!  Welcome to the Forums!  Glad to have you aboard!

I've been building for 68 of my 74 years and I'm still learning something new almost every day. Like what was said above, you really have come to the best place.  The guys/gals on here are very knowledgeable and are always ready, willing, and able to help. The only thing you have to do in return is post pics of your builds so we can see your work.  Soooooooooo, sit back, have a few sips of your favorite brew Coffee Beer Drinks or Toast and enjoy the hobby.
