Where to begin.. well, I guess like most of you I started building model kits when I was a kid. At some point I stopped building models and started to follow other more "interesting" pursuits. Through the years since then I've tried several times to get back into it but never had much success. I'd start a kit, put a couple of hours worth of work into it and then, for whatever reason, stop. It's been almost 20 years since I last completed a project. In that time however, I've gotten awesome at buying more kits! I'd head down to my favorite hobby shop and pick something out saying to myself that "this is going to be the one that I see through to completion!" Or, maybe not. Last year my wife and I installed a nice "hobby area" in our basement and I had big plans on working through all these kits I've acquired. I even went through my stash, picked one out and set it aside. It's still in the box sitting on the shelf in front of me.
Every now and then I'll pick up the latest magazine or check out the various websites and forums. I'm always amazed at the incredible things I see. You are all so talented! I wish I could put together something that looked half as good! Maybe someday I will....
The other day I found myself looking through the forums again. I've decided that it's time for me to stop wishing and dreaming and get to building. So, tonight I'm going to clear off this desk, dig out a pair of clippers and some sanding sticks, and get started on that kit that I picked out a few months ago. Hopefully I've chosen something simple, interesting, and fun; Trumpeter's 1/32 MiG-3.
Anyway, sorry for the long-winded introduction. I look forward to sharing my progress with all of you and I'd love to hear any encouragement or advice that you may be willing to share!!
