Welcome to the Forums Jasper!  Glad to have you aboard!

I've been building for 69 of my 75years and have a "stash" that would take me at least 250 to 300 years to complete at the rate that I build.  My problem is that I start one kit and reach a point where the glue or paint has to cure and I start another one. When I reach the same point on it I start another. I have at least 6 or 7 kits that are "WIP's" Work In Progress at the same time.  When a contest time starts getting close, I rush to complete as many as I can.  Over the years I've been lucky enough to win a few awards but mostly I build for the enjoyment of it and meeting new friends at the contests and sharing tips and ideas.  I consider my builds as "Stand Off Scale".  You stand back about 5 feet and they look pretty good.  I think that most of the guys hear the wife say "Why don't you finish this one before you by any more?".  The answer is that we are Plasticaholics and there is NO CURE.  Just relax and enjoy.  If you have any questions, just ask. We've all been there and done that.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

Welcome to the Forums! I think the way to get back into building is just to start building!

Welcome aboard. You are certainly in good company as many members here have had a long break from the hobby. Dive in and enjoy and be sure to post some pics of that build.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Welcome jasper Welcome Sign

Most of us have been the same boat, however at least you already have a stash started LOL.
That Mig 3 kit is a real gem! I build the 1/48 little brother at the beginning of the year and just loved the fit and detail.
Don't get discouraged if your build doesn’t turn out like some of these guys and gals builds. They have been at it for years. Just keep trying, coming back and asking questions. We’ll be here to help you along and in no time you will be blowing yourself away with what you create.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Where to begin.. well, I guess like most of you I started building model kits when I was a kid. At some point I stopped building models and started to follow other more "interesting" pursuits. Through the years since then I've tried several times to get back into it but never had much success. I'd start a kit, put a couple of hours worth of work into it and then, for whatever reason, stop. It's been almost 20 years since I last completed a project. In that time however, I've gotten awesome at buying more kits! I'd head down to my favorite hobby shop and pick something out saying to myself that "this is going to be the one that I see through to completion!" Or, maybe not. Last year my wife and I installed a nice "hobby area" in our basement and I had big plans on working through all these kits I've acquired. I even went through my stash, picked one out and set it aside. It's still in the box sitting on the shelf in front of me.

Every now and then I'll pick up the latest magazine or check out the various websites and forums. I'm always amazed at the incredible things I see. You are all so talented! I wish I could put together something that looked half as good! Maybe someday I will....

The other day I found myself looking through the forums again. I've decided that it's time for me to stop wishing and dreaming and get to building. So, tonight I'm going to clear off this desk, dig out a pair of clippers and some sanding sticks, and get started on that kit that I picked out a few months ago. Hopefully I've chosen something simple, interesting, and fun; Trumpeter's 1/32 MiG-3.

Anyway, sorry for the long-winded introduction. I look forward to sharing my progress with all of you and I'd love to hear any encouragement or advice that you may be willing to share!!
