Welcome back to the hobby! I did a similar thing. Got back into the hobby after bouncing around the world with the Air Force. I started what I call a "Youth Wish List". Like you, I built lots of models in my youth. My bedroom looked like a WWII bomber assembly plant! LOL. Now I want to get the models I did then (with a huge lack of any skill!) and do them right now. So have fun and this forum is full of great folks who are more then willing to help out where they can. Eagle90

It's funny how things work, isn't it? I made a list of all the model ships I had as a kid so I can build and paint them the correct way.

Welcome to the Forums Damien!  Glad to have you aboard!

I've been building for 69 of my 75 years and still have pics of our basement with all the models hanging from the ceiling and on shelves above the workbench. My High School days were before your time ('55 to '58). Still enjoy it.

If you get kits with broken or missing parts, the customer service of most of the kit manufacturers is fairly good these days. Give them a call or e-mail them to see if the parts are available, unless it's an out of production kit, before you spend lots of time scratchbuilding the parts. 

Any questions/problems, just ask. You'll get lots of help here. Enjoy.

Thank you fox! I will definitely ask. I'm actually a bit disappointed that over the years my older kits got lost or broken in various moves. Oh well. It's never too late to restart.

Nope!  It's never too late at all.  In fact, I've been experiencing a "second childhood", if you will.  I've been purchasing many of the kits from my own childhood and building those for fun.  It's been reminding me of why I got into the hobby in the first place.  One thing I've noticed is how LOOOONG it takes me to build a particular kit whereas, back in the '80s when I was a teen, I could slap those kits together in a few days.  LOL!  And it looked like it, too!

What part of Washington state are you in?  I am in the greater Seattle area.

I know what you mean about wanting to re-build all those kits we built back in the old, old days.  I build ship models, and fool around in futility with the old car kits from my younger days.

I just want to suggest you keep a really open mind about your kit selection.  It's fun to replay the original kits, but take a look at some of the wonderful kits that are being released nowadays.  Some are amazing!  So I try to walk a like between old memory kits and new production.

Hey Rick. I"m here in Moses Lake. No, I agree. I have seen some great kits and want to work on them as well as the older ones. I figure I'll be busy for some time now.

If your interested in joining a club there are three that you can get to within a couple hours, Palouse Area Modelers in Moscow Idaho, Aces Wild in Spokane, and several great clubs over the mountains on the wet side. Great to have ya here and enjoy the forums.
