Thank you Toshi, I'm gonna keep researching it. I sunk a good bit of money recently into an airbrush setup and a set of paints. I'm still getting use to those. So I've got some time till another learning curve. For now, I just do a bit of kit bashing To carry me through. I really like the techniques section of the forums so far.

Hey bud, yes I know about King's Hobby. Sadly, its across town from where I live. I've driven by several times but always at hours when it was closed. I heard that was one of the last hold out true hobby shops in Austin. There are plenty of Hobby Town's and Hobby Lobby's here in Austin but nothing that really offer pro-level stuff.  So we have to suffer in silence and go on eBay or Amazon, or online for everything.

Austin has gotten ridiculous, our traffic is now worse that New York's if you can believe that. Its gotten way too expensive to live here even with a decent wage.

Good to hear from ya, Have a good one!

Welcome Ahren, Welcome Sign

There are quite a few Texans on here. I grew up in Dallas and Austin. I lived just 1 1/2 miles from King's Hobby and knew Bob King when he was in a tiny little shack across the street on Lamar Blvd from where the shop is now.
Wow that place has changed since I left there in 79.

I hope you enjoy the forums and don't hastate to ask.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Hello Everybody -

My name is Ahren (pronounced Aaron) and I've been building models off and on since I was 8 years old, I am now 37. My Dad and I built an 80's Star Wars Speederbike kit together way back when and I've been hooked ever since. I am the only person I know of my friends who has stuck with scale modelling for this long.

I build mainly plastic kits (mostly cars and planes) at the moment and do some kit bashing. In the last 5 years, I just really started branching out into other intermediate level paints, glues and techniques. I've seen some amazing projects and talent on here. I'm looking to get into photo etching one day and how I can improve my skills and techniques.

Feel free to friend me.

Ahren
