Hi Joel! Welcome to the Forums! Glad to have you aboard.
I build whatever strikes my fancy at the time and my wallet says OK.
My favorites are WWI & WWII planes followed by sailing ships as you can tell by my avatar. I started building in 1946 (6 years old) and never stopped. I keep learning new techniques and tricks almost every day. The members here are very knowledgeable and are ready to help you with any questions/problems. Don't be afraid to ask for help. We all need some at one time or another. Enjoy.
