Jeff and I e-mailed back and forth for a few months, he never mentioned his illness until the FSM post about there being no hope left. He then told me how comforting it was to have his kids come home, and how much better it was for his wife to have everyone together.
He told me he was a railroad employee for many years, actually quite close to retirement and looking forward to it. He really enjoyed the travel around the country, while doing his job.
Just a very few days before his leaving us, his wife packed a picnic basket and they all took off for Glacier Nat'l Park, not too far from home. He said the weather was co-operative that day, but I don't know if they made it to the park, winter in the Rockies you know.
He loved his modeling hobby, always interested in learning more and advancing his skills. Humble about his abilities, but I think he was likely very good at his workbench.
I'm happy he called me a friend, he was surely my friend as well. My sincere condolences and sympathy to his family, his son Hunter was very nice to have honored Jeff's wishes, by letting us know about his passing.
Have a good rest, friend Jeff.
