I learned on a you tube documentory that the back seater has a pop up joy stick to fly the a/c looking through the mirror system.
It is a periscope, not a rear view mirror. So the backseater can see what they are going to crash into?
So the guy in the front seat can see what buttons the guy in back is pushing.
The mirror is facing forward.
!. To see where he's been.
2. In case he wants back up.
My first thought is so he can see the Sidewinder coming up on his six.....either that or to touch up his makeup prior to landing
Does anybody know why the MIG-31back seat have a flip up mirror.
