Wow, I don't know how many times I've said that exact same thing. 

As to the OP, I really don't do anything that I know I'm bad at. I can't sing or dance or play a musical instrument so I don't do any of those things. I'm not much of a risk taker so I tend to stick to doing things that I know I'm competent, if not proficient, at. 

But I really, really do love finishing a model, but am not good at all at accomplishing it. I just don't look forward to the painting and weathering process. I'm just too afraid of messing up a nice build and wasting all of that time that I spent building it.

things I'm good at: playing bass guitar, my job (masonry), lifting things that need moved, doing the dishes by hand, softball, chopping wood, sleeping

things I'm bad at: remembering things my wife asks me to do, winning arguments with the afore mentioned woman, scheduling my time, folding a fitted sheet,

Things I'm good at:

My job; letting my wife keep me happy; keeping my wife happy; playing guitar; electronics (part of my job); eating fast food WAAAYYYYY too much; losing my temper when I have someone tailgating me so close that I can't see their headlights in my rear-view mirror on the interstate at 70mph (I'm still working on rectifying that after many, many years); letting people know what I think about certain things.

Things I'm not so good at:

Sleeping; staying healthy; finishing the models that I've started; being tactful when I rerally, really need to be; understanding why no one else thinks like I do!

OTHER than modeling?

I enjoy playing guitar, but even after lessons, I'm not particularly good at it. I took a long time off and took a lesson for the first time in ages yesterday. I'm taking a break from practicing to write this. I think there are a number of reasons I didn't improve as much as I would've liked. First, not practicing enough, which is why I am practicing this evening. Second, many years of punching things in the martial arts makes my fingers not as limber as I would like. Third, I am obsessive enough that I won't let myself "play sloppy" and constantly check my fingering of chords, not trusting myself enough to let them be instinctive.

Cowboy Action Shooting. OK, I may not be really bad at it, but I started the game late and I will never be really competitive at a level I would like to be. If it were just about being competitive, though, I would've stuck with trap shooting. Sure there are more, just drawing a blank at the moment.

   Mine is a common one . Never argue with ANY Woman ! I invariably have bad luck on that since I've become a widower . Living with women has benefits of many natures , But , The physical is not always the main driver if at all . I still haven't figured out how they think . After 74 years at that !

Wine I have no problem with . Now as to that and Classical music .You have to have ears that are sensitive enough to pick out those notes , and a sensitive palate too .

   Same for Vino . Gallo Is not what I mean either .Your palate has to be sensitive enough to pick up the variables in taste . Yes , it's true , Even in single and double malt whiskeys . In a blind taste test with three neighbors I picked out the brand and label each time .Gee , that's where that night went !

 In consumable liquids , the barrel it was aged in and if it was charred. Wether it was oak or ash etc . It is in the taste .That's why eoniphiles ( Wine Fanciers ) Spit after a small taste . Then cleanse with water tinged with lemon or lime .To cleanse for the next taste . 

 A good Wine , Whiskey etc , is much appreciated with a good meal . Never overindulge on anything  , Human or consumable, otherwise after a while it becomes flat to you .

Not bad at golf(10) but would like to get better. Eating healthy is something I am terrible at as I am no longer a spring chicken. Tried to learn the guitar years ago...my brain and fingers do not function as one.

99 1/2% of us are in that sinking boat.

Right there with you, but I think I made that level.  Last time I touched a club was 10 years ago, and had a handicap of 38.

First time I was ever on a course and hit more than a couple in the bosses back yard I shot 55 on our little 9 holer.  Never have broke 60 there since.  That course is not kind to me at all, is where I had my first heart attack on opening day of men's club.  Simple course too, only 2 bunkers and one small pond for irrigation that is not in play.

Weathering, finishing a model, actually listen to my wife once in awhile, ( turns out she is actually kinda smart lol). I would like to learn guitar, right now the neighborhood cats chime in and my dog just growls at me, heck I don't even have an amp. Did I mention finishing a model? How about leaving the hobbyshop with ONLY what I went in for. I would like to take my wife on a real honeymoon however after my stint in the Navy a cruise is outta the question. Given the personal events for me last month be the kind of man my step father can be proud of, and be the father I never had to my estranged son. Kinda suck in both those areas. BTW I'm sure I mentioned actually finishing a model right.

Good at: Detailing a steam locomotive. 

Bad at: Reading the instructions first. ( sometimes the part I add is'nt in the right posistion.... usually backwards.)

Hi,

I'm not sure that I would rate myself as particularly "good" at much, other than maybe what I do for work (seeing that I haven't been fired yet or anything like that - ).

As far as things that I'm bad at though, but wish I were good at, I guess maybe gardening.  Recently my Dr gave me an allergy test and I found out that I'm allergic to many types of grass, most trees and a bunch of weeds, plus somehow I seem to always "find" the poison ivy in my yard whenever I try doing any yard work

Other than that I also tried to do some creative writing once and was so embarassed by my 1st draft that I hand shredded the one print out that I made and scattered the pieces in trash cans in several different locations so that no one would ever be able toi see the whole thing

I guess maybe I could also add "teaching" to the list too.  At one time I had given some thought to maybe lectutre/teach/mentor in my field, but after helping co-present a "continuing education" short course at a professional society meeting once I realized that this wasn't something I'd be well suited to either .

However, there are things I can do:

Masonry, Carpentry, Electrical, Guitar, Public Speaking,            Investing, Breakfast/Lunch.                

Things I'm not that good at and shouldn’t do:  All the above.

Things I want to do:   Enjoy retirement and Build models.

Things I’m doing:  Enjoying retirement (took a year), Building models.

Singing!  I love to do it but am musically challenged.  I do sing in a choir, and they tolerate me, but it takes me longer than anyone else to learn a piece. 

I'm right there with ya Castel...I've been playing guitar for close to 30 years now. I never developed an "ear palate"...never could hear just a single note and be able to say "that's an E", let alone be able to tell you what key a song is in. I can certainly find the note heard on the guitar, then be able to identify it. 

I also do not have a "refined palate" when it comes to food/drink. I think food snobs/critics just make this stuff up to sound like they're fancy and know what they're talking about. Food/drink needs no more than a 5 point rating system...5.Great, 4. Really good, 3. Good, 2. Edible-ish 1. Awful. Spare me the gross overanalysis!!! Seems like most of the stuff they sing high praises about, actually turns my stomach.
