My man Toshi.  I just have to say that your life story has been an inspiration for me.  The way you have overcome obstacles in your kind, humble manner is to be admired.  Your builds have provided inspiration for me to get better.  Your devotion to your family, and your wife in particular, has warmed my heart.  Thank goodness for that therapist who pushed you into the hobby!

Be well, my friend,

D

Dang! a year! You have got to be kidding me.

Time goes by way too slow and way too fast at the same time.

Ain't that the truth!  I keep saying, the days are slow, but the years are fast.  Not sure how both can be true, but they are.

It's a nice place to hang out in, isn't it?

How did you find the site?

That'd be a good thread.

I was web searching for  build reviews of the old classic Hasegawa "Mavis" way back in 2006.

My model as a result.

Dry transfers, painted markings and multi colored natural metal were all tips from members.

Actually, I found the site after subscribing to the magazine.  When I finally decided to build all those kits that had been sitting around for 30+ years, I got a subscription because I knew I would need all the help I could get.  Then I found the forum.  So much had changed with the hobby that I spent a lot of time just looking at WIP to get a sense of what was available.  That would be....a lot!  Time well spent, I must say.

That is a very fine looking model, by the way.  The NMF is impressive!

Happy Anniversary.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Tanker - Builder

Hey D !

Whatsa matta ?You don't like being a piece of the scenery now . Naw , being here a year shows your dedication to the craft . I hope we can be talking ten years from now .T.B.

Me too, TB!  Thank you for all the replies.  I am more than happy to be "part of the furniture".  I am just now feeling like I may have learned enough to be helpful to our newest members.  Even if only by asking the right questions to gain some more knowledge.  I hope to create some future "oh wow" moments when you are looking at my work, as you all have done for me this past year.

I just realized I joined the forum a little over a year ago, and wanted to say thank you  for welcoming me into the community.  I believe my skills are improving, and this is largely due to the support and suggestions I have received this past year.  Not to mention all of the nuggets of information I have found while crusing around the site.  Your WIP and finished builds are inspiring.  Losing the fear of trying new techniques is a thing of the past.

I have been online practically since it was available to the public, and this is hands down the most positive online experience I have ever had.  You folks are outstanding!

So again, thank you all for making me feel welcome from the very beginning.
