Ah, work, the model bench, my cat, nothing is the same as it was before a 7 day vacation. I'm back, but under a bit of protest. Now, my current project, the Prinz Eugen, is on the bench gathering dust as I comtemplate whether to make a water scene and finish it, or just say heck and book another "research" trip.
Here are a few photos of my "research". It was hard to post them as I go through the post vacation blues. Maybe I'll order some more models to cheer me up!
As the ship was debarking, I was taken by the beauty of the Elissa, a bark, that was moored next to us. My wife could tell I would have really wanted to be sailing on a three masted bark instead of a 91000 ton floating resort. But I came around and started to enjoy the resort life.
My first sunrise at sea, followed by a 3 mile jog on deck. Nothing feels better than running into a 40 knot wind on a ship doing 20 knots.
Coming into the port of Progresso was exciting, at least to a sea nerd like me. I was the only one on the front observation deck taking in the action.
Some warship eye candy, compliments of the Mexican Navy.
They had just parallel parked our 90K ton steel barge like it was a minivan and within minutes, our sister ship comes in and settles into the berth with silk like precision.
Man, to model water like that....And within an hour, I was snorkling in it.
Heading back home, with the currents on our side and the winds to our back.
Back into the home port safe, kinda sane, and sound (but not of mind!)
