I think I know where your coming from. I suffer from much the same affliction.  I absolutely love a good armor kit. Probably have built more than 250 1/35 over the years.  When I get into a particularly deep project it can burn me out.  Resin, PE and such is great for detail but can be time consuming.

I stick to WW II whatever.  I have favorite scales but am not close minded about any of them.  If you find a need to trigger the Armor bug again try a Fonderie Minatures kit. Man after one of those I am good for at least 3 Armor kits! LOL!

I can definitely see myself building both in the future. I might even throw a little Sci-Fi in the mix as well. The different skills that are required make me a better modeler. Plus maybe I won't get so bored doing the same old thing over and over. I mean, how many road wheels can a person stand to make ready without losing their mind? And the bottom line is that I'm having fun again which is what a hobby is supposed to be all about anyhow.

Nah, mine's a 1/32nd Spit and a 1/35th Wirbelwind with some infantry hunting for the Spit pilot...

...like those Monogram diorama kits, featuring their 1/48 aircraft up against the old Aurora armor?  Then you'd have something for aircraft builders, something for armor builders, something for diorama builders, and something for the nostalgia builder Big Smile [:D]

I'm neither an Armor nor Aircraft modeler... I'm a Military Modeler... I get to play in both worlds with equal aplomb... So you can do the same thing, then move up in the food chain and build dioramas featuring both genres on the same base.... Can you dig a Wirbelwind/Spitfire diorama?

Well then, thank you Daywalker!  I was beginning to wonder about these strange winged things that are slowly infiltrating my stash.

Now don't go blamin' the King Tiger for being too big in scale, as the reason you can't build it.Wink [;)] It certainly must have been the painkillers or perhaps the doctors fiddled with your internal wiring. Blame the doctors, might get some money out of it too.Big Smile [:D]LOL

By the way, if you don't want the King Tiger you could always send it my way.Big Smile [:D]

Switch your pain medicine--it's gotta be the pills making you choose Planes over Armor! Wink [;)]

What a lousy time to change modeling interests

A while back I bought Trump's 1/16 King Tiger. I had been in a slump for months and this really brought me out of it. I was plodding along, having a good time. Then, in early March I had back surgery. When I came home from the hospital I was pretty much restricted to the 1st floor. With my man cave being in the basement, I brought up Tamiya's F4F Wildcat kit to keep me company as bringing up the KT would have been way too much. While building the Wildcat I discovered that these winged things are good fun to build.

Now here I am, able to get around like before. When I come to the modeling room, I have the KT sitting there staring at me, but all I want to do is build more aircraft. I've been forcing myself to work on it in hopes that the armor bug bites once again, but so far that's not happening. While I still find working on the KT enjoyable and relaxing, I'm still being drawn more and more to the few aircraft kits in the stash.

I guess the good thing is that I am out of my slump and enjoy building once again. I can't bring myself to box the KT back up in hopes of getting back to it in the future. That doesn't work with me. If I box it, I might as well chuck it. That ain't gonna happen with a $400 kit. So, I guess there's only one real solution to this problem. I need a second modeling desk for the aircraft kits! Now is that a typical modeler's reaction or what?!

All I have left to do now is get rid of the furniture to make room for the desk, find a suitable desk and then, of course, convince the wife what a good idea this is. Yeah, right. Black Eye [B)]

Oh well, if it comes down to it, I'll just say it was the pain pills talking. And I could always try grabbing my back and hope for the sympathy thing to kick in. Wish me luck boys.
