Most expensive- 1997 release of the Academy/Minicraft 1/350 Titanic, and all the Tom's Modelworks and Gold Medal Models aftermarket stuff to go with it.

Largest- depends on how you look at it, but either the 1/72 Revell/Monogram RB-36H or the 1/72 Megatech balsa and tissue paper Hindenburg (48" long). That Hindenburg is also honorable mention for my most expensive.

There is a thread on another forum about the Dora that Bronto is talking about. It's something I would never attempt and hats off to Bronto  for even considering building it. That thing is a beast for sure!

Most expensive kit in my stash is going to be my next build: Eduard 1/48 Fw 190 A8/R2 Royal Class-$170.

It's gonna be alot of fun though.

I thought so. I would love to get some of those mugs, but 48th ain't my thing. I am glad they are bringing out the IP's on their own now. Hopefully the 190 will be out soon.

Hey there Bish. This one doesn't come with a mug but it does come with alot of goodies. First off, as with all Royal Class kits, it comes with two of everything as follows: Two complete kits, Two Big Ed kits including color photo etch, regular photo etch and masks. Then it comes with the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and then lastly a piece of aircraft skin from an A8/R2 that was shot down in Normandy. I comes with a small story behind the plane and the battle that took place the day it was shot down. Really neat kit. Here's a pic:

For me the most expensive kit world by my Hobby Boss F3H Demon, the biggest would have to be the 2 1/48 monogram B-58's that are in my stash.

Hi! I would have to state, truthfully that the 1/72scale, old release of MATCHBOX,s  version of the CORVETTE (U.S.S.SNOWBERRY ) kit.. It,s big to start with. Now factor in all the work and hardware for radio control that remains hidden under the stock kit parts and that is the most expensive kit (and biggest) in my stash.I figure the kit cost plus about $600.00 for radio gear and there you have it.Unless you want to figure my very old  U.S.S. CONSTITUTION in wood.when I bought it the price was over $1,100.00 bucks. And it,s four and one half feet long tip of bowsprit to end of spanker boom.Still have a fit of time trying trying to get it displayed after three moves. It,s BIG      Tanker-builder

Let's see.  The most expensive might be the Trumpeter T-34's  in 1/16th scale.  I have 2 of them, the 76mm gun and 85mm, that I got at over half off a few years ago.

They aren't the largest though.  I also have the  1/350 Star Ship  Enterprises, and Revell's large 1/96th (I think that's the scale),  U.S.S. Constitution and the Italeri 1/35 Elco PT Boat.

I have built the Revell 1/72 Gato and U-Boats and they take up quite a bit of shelf space.  In fact, shelve space has stopped my finishing of the Trumpeter 1/350 Hornet.  It is mostly done aside from rigging it and finishing the aircraft, but I have no good place to put it, unless I move a whole bunch or 1/35 tank models around.  It's getting near critical around my place.  I have even started putting built models on top of my wife's baby Grand Piano, much to her displeasure.  But I think it looks neat with a phalanx of tanks charging the keyboard....fun to dust though.

I tend to hold off on kits over $100, and wait until some sales happen.  I used to buy a lot of Accurate Armor kits, but now all the stuff I like is out in plastic.  Which is good, because as I loath working with Epoxy or CA.  (I knew I should have built all those Valentines years ago.)

I have to say that even some inexpensive 1/48 Bomber kits take up a lot of space, like the B-17 and B-24  I have built.  They even take up a lot of ceiling space.

That Megatech Hindenburg is either not 1/72 or it's not 48" long! A 1/72 Hindenburg would be about 2 1/2 times that length.

Revell (GmbH) 1/25 Peterbilt fire engine - Household-6 got it for me Christmas back when we were first married.

Not sure why I thought it was 1/72- I rechecked the box and no scale is actually listed. It does say it's 48" long.

Forgot to add a completed  Trumpy 1/35th K5 Railway gun.  In the stash, an  Entex 1/100th  B-747,  a Airfix 1/72nd Flower Class Corvette, a  Revell 1/144th Fletcher Class DD,  Revell 1/96th Thermopylae, CSS Alabama, and, Cutty Sark...

As far as plastic kits, my Trumpeter 1:32 F-14D is probably the largest & most expensive. I also have a large Model Expo wooden Constitution that is the most expensive kit in my stash.

my largest AND most expensive is a 1/8 scale Ford Falcon XY (1971). it came as a pre-painted diecast kit and has a fully detailed cleveland 351 v8.

that's a 1/25 scale on top of it.

When I was a kid, my parents got me a 1/32 B-1 bomber for Christmas. The box was almost as big as I was. I never started it, mainly because I had no clue as to where I'd put it if I ever finished it. When I left for school my parents divorced and a lot of my stuff disappeared, including all of my models. Now the biggest model in my stash is probably a 1/72 Tu-22M Backfire (I only do 1/72 aircraft now). None of my kits were particularly expensive when I got them, that I can recall.

My biggest is a italeri 1/35 Schnellboot followed closely by the 1/35 Vosper MTB, still looking to ad a 1/72 Flowerclass Corvette and a 1/72 U Boat as well.

Biggest is a 1/48 Monogram B-29.. Most expensive is a 1/35th Tamiya Stug III.. 45.00 freakin' DOLLARS... Luckily, I had a trusty printed-out Hobby Lobby "40% off" coupon or it'd still be in the store....

I have a 1/48 C130 Hercules and a 1/48 B1 bomber. This brings me to the question of why we do not have a 1/48 B2 Spirit??

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice....

For me I have bought both the Accurate Armor 1/35th U-boat VC-IIC and the quayside set for just over a grand. Calling it my retirement project and with the sub alone measuring out to 6ft in length finding a spot for it presents a problem.

2nd runner up and something a little more manageable is the Trumpeter 1/200 Arizona w/ the KA Models Arizona deluxe pack.

Currently the biggest kits in my stash are a couple of 1/24th FW 190s (one's an Airfix and the other is a Heller) and the Monogram B-36 kit box is the same size as the 190 boxes!  The most expensive kit is the WNW AMC DH-2 my wife gave me for Christmas.  (I do have some other kits that the MSRP is higher but I didn't pay the for them.  eg. I payed 30 bucks for an unopened Revell of Germany 1/72 U-Boat)

B-36, cv-65, or the mighty mo.  Started the b-26 years ago, then realized i had nowhere to put it.  Afraid of the two boats.

The biggest would have to be the Italeri 1/24 Mann cabover with reefer trailer. As for most expensive it would be a tie between the DML 1/48 JU88G Nachtjager and the Pro-Mod Me310 both due to the amount of a/m resin and p/e goodies I've rounded up for them.I was pretty embarrassed thinking what I've spent on just 2 kits until I saw how much a resin Ju388 went for on evil bay recently,do'nt feel half bad about it now! Thanks random big spender whom ever you are!
