For what it's worth nothing beats scalehobbyist.com website. They have the best prices hands down than every one else. I have done tons of price comparisons with other sites and nothing comes close to these guys. Check them out.

2. your credit card limit

What I do is to search online hobby shops for kits that I want to build. I then made a list of kits I like. Then watch the online shops, ebay, and local stores for their sales. If a kit goes on sale or is offered at a good price, I buy it. I now have a small stash of about 20 kits to build.

Once you have a stash of kits you can then decide on which kit to build next by what you feel at that momment.

i look at my stash and i have almost every modern military truck in 1/35, a bunch of RR stuff (1/35 and 1/72), a shelf unit of modern asian armor and vehicles, rocket and missiles, towed guns, a shelf of fire trucks and a mess of dinosaurs.

i get interested in a subject or era and buy in that for a bit. for example as i finish up 1/72 SCUD i am also finishing my first Takom siege gun and have a second one in the queue. interests change and my stash reflects that.

I buy whatever looks cool or interesting. I don't stick with one brand. Spread your wings and try other brands like Dragon, Academy, Hobby Boss, etc...

This is well said. Price wise, I wait for black friday, boxing day or whatever sale and then stock up.

Cuzz of my age ..only 1/32--1/24..only exception to that are the 1/48 bombers. But mainly 1/32..there are alot of kits that in my youth that I wished I could have had .but now I look high and low for them .

history and country etc.

My suggestion is find a vehicle you like then find a review of which is the best kit made on the market. Tamiya makes nice newer kits, but many of them are older  70's era kits and are outclassed by today's higher tech manufacturers.

I usually stick with WWII ships and aircraft (US) and 'Nam era aircraft (was USAF during that little debacle).  Otherwise if I see something that strikes my fancy, or I read something that peaks my interest and I trip over the same thing.........Like the Revell UH1D....going to build 2--one for the vets home and the other for my bud, who worked the same unit a couple of years later over there.

Or you can pick a theme/era and run with it. WWII ETO, Cold War Europe, Gulf War(s), Arab Israeli Wars... Of course Tamiya does not cover all bases in any of those areas for a true full collection, so you may need to branch out to other manufacturers...

My advice to you is try and find something special about one and pick that one.Something should have a significance to you personally based on your interests,knowledge and experiences.
