Wow! What a demonstration of talent here. Absolutely stunning builds folks. I can honestly say that I am always impressed with the quality of builds you all have turned out.

My favorite so far is my Eduard 1/72 F6F-3 Hellcat. It is an absolute dream of a kit and it is a reflection of my best efforts to date:

I'll DITTO that on the Eduard kit, built it last year and a realjoy to work on. Yours turned out great and a well deserved reward.

I can't get over all of the spectacular work I see in here. Awesome stuff fellas and great thread Tigerman!!!!!

I have two that are my mainstays and given half a chance I'll enter them both in a Nationals event if there is ever one close enough to go to.

My first will be my Fw190D-9. In this build l learned alot pertaining to paint and weathering as well as kit bashing.

And my Monogram 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A that I took apart in late 2014 and put back together using today's skills. When I built it originally at age 13/14 it was my favorite automotive build at that time because it was the best gloss job I'd ever done at that point. When I rebuilt it at age 46, it was again..............the best gloss / paint work I'd ever done. Had a complete blast BOTH times I built this one.

Hello!

I think this thread is very cool and it probably will be very popular!

My two favourite builds are:

The Scooter - it almost seemed to build itself and it also helped me to understand why people operating it loved it so much:

1:72 Airfix A-4B Skyhawk by Pawel

The Duster - I have finished it after years of tinkering and with the assistance from a man that used to fight in this very vehicle at Khe Sanh:

1:35 AFV Club M42 Duster by Pawel

Thanks for lookin', good luck with your builds and have a nice day

Paweł

All comments and critique welcomed. Thanks for your honest opinions!

Gamera, those are all great builds, but that Avenger is increadible.  I take it that bird flies from the USS Shamrock Bay.

Big thanks! I'm very pleased with how she turned out but she probably looks better in the photo than person. Embarrassed

I think the decal sheet just gave the pilot's name but I loved the shamrock and couldn't resist using it.

PFJN

Hi,

Although I've already posted a picture of one build here, another thread on "engineering or artist" got me thinking about another build that I liked, eventhough my building skills at the time may have been a bit rusty and crude.

This build was something I did based on some stuff I was involved with at work, on trying to come up with different ideas that could be used on amphibious vehicle designs to try and improve their performance is water.  One thought I had was to try and taper the front of the vehicle body just a little to make it a little less blunt and another involved potentially adding a "buoyancy" collar to the vehicle to help keep its nose up.  To help better show my ideas I bought an inexpensive model of a marine AAV7 and altered its shape a little with clay and wood, as shown below.

Since this was one of the times that I had the chance to try and use my model building skills for something semi-work related its kind of also a build that I liked, even if my paint job and detailing was a little rough at the time.

PS.  Sorry for the pic being a little fuzzy, I took it with my phone which is kind of getting a bot old

Sounds like a really good idea and clever way to demostrate it.

Looks like a C-54 to me, Toshi. Perhaps the Revell Germany kit? You did great work on it. And you sure appear to have healed well enough from your injury.

Thank you stikpusher, I think you are correct.  I now remember thanks to you, that it was a revell kit from Hobby Lobby!

I just remembered that it is a C-54 Skymaster that flew for the Berlin air relief.  It's home base was Strategic Air Commmand in Weissbaden, Germany where my dad served during that time.  I built that particular plane in honor of my dad.

Toshi

Toshi, that is great! I'm happy to hear that my nudge helped you remember such a special aspect.
