    LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!  I have done that ! only I grabbed the gloss black instead of Glosscote.

So much for $10 worth of decals. I just finished painting it black.... easyer than stripping it.

Last night in a hurry I knock the piers off the magnetic strip that was holding it and it drop on the tray of wires I pre-cut to assemble a set of T-48 tracks.  It gave me the luxury (I didn't want) of watching that tray flip end over end throwing over a hundred wires all over the workbench, carpet floor, and the spray booth.  Spent an hour picking up as many as I could find (about half) and another 30 minutes making more.

Darn Opti-visor, I need to learn to raised it up when I am reaching for something.

I have NEVER had anything bad happen to any of my models while working at the bench !

(He said with a straight face...... as he pulled the freshly glued part  out of his eye.....)

Hopefully the worst thing to come out of this will be a new thread on all of our major f***ups.

I always use a dab of  "Liquid Nails" to stick my plastic welder/glue to a 4 inch by 4 inch piece of luaun plywood.

I've never had a spill in ten years since doing this. 

I would recommend this to anyone that uses a bottle that may topple over. It is the definitive solution to spilled glue bottles.

I tipped over many bottles of decal solution,paint,glue,thinner over the years.it comes with the territory.

Nothing we all haven't done.....and still do!!!  A couple of weeks ago I tipped my bottle of Micro Sol...and you guessed it...all over the decal sheet!  That was ugly.  Many times I've tipped over my Tamiya glue.  Alcohol bottle while cleaning my AB, thinner while setting up for a paint job....You're not alone, and don't worry about "measuring up".  This is just part of the hobby.  LOL!  Press on...it's all good mate!

#1 Opened a brand new bottle of micro sol, working on a computer all day long, I know better than most, no open bottles.  Put the cap on my drink everytime I take a sip.  I didn't and spilled almost all of it ruining all the decals for a model.  #2, my best paint job ever on a Honda NSX, thing was beautiful, all i had to do was glue the trunk lid on.  Used a toothpick to put the glue on with, was very careful not to get any on it.  Somehow, a big ole blob of crazy glue got on it.  I'm hoping buffing will take it out.  We all do stuff like this.

I have several clamps, about 6" long with a sliding jaw.  I have been clamping one of them on the open bottle of glue or paint, with the handle extending flat on the table.  Your bottle won't tip, and it is easy and quick to move it to the next bottle.

Old habits are hard to break, I've always used Testors liquid cement, even way back when.

Lowry Field...Denver?  Would that have turned into Lowry AFB?  That's where my tech school in the Air Force was.

 Yeah, same place. My dad was there for B-29 transition training and flight engineer school from January 1945 to September 1945.

 

All it takes is a little positive reinforcement to get a guy to keep pressing on!

I certainly hope so, Eagle90. This P-40N is meant to represent an airplane my dad may have flown while he was assigned to Lowry Field in 1945.

Actually, the plastic on the nose of the P-40 is kinda shiny now. I'll just need to buff the carburator intake a little to smooth out where the glue hit. The O.D. paint should cover the area OK. Now I'm going to try to glue on the tail wheel again. That's how this all started...

We all do stuff like that.

When you go to fix the plane, take your time and do your best work.

Well it's all a learning experience!  Mistakes and accidents happens all the time.  One just keep on going like all of life.

O, now that sounds familar. My bottles of plastic weld just seem to throw themselves over when i least expect it.
