modelcrazy, We probably all have those first few builds or more that just don't make the cut anymore!  I know I've got a few.  But that is the great thing about this hobby, you can usually pick up said kit, and build it again with new found skills.  Thanks!

Rob Gronovius, Thanks!  Not the biggest ones I have either, lol.  1/48 Herc is the biggest one.

Waikong, Thank you!  I've still got a few of the first builds with the biggest mistakes ever!  I'm slowly working on replacing them with new builds!

practice, practice, practice, nice looking builds! Thanks for reminding us we can all improve if we stick to it and keep building.  I should find the first model I built when I first returned to the hobby and compare with the latest build.  Visible seams, silvering decals, orange peel, foggy clear parts, glue blobs, ... its got it all :)

Your first build looks better than mine did. A Cessna Skymaster with too much glue and melted wings LOL.

I've watched you off and on and you have really come a long way. Keep it up.

Thanks Gamera!

Thank you knox!  I couldn't stand looking at the first one any longer, lol.

Thanks Greg!

Thank you Real G!

Scottrc, Thank you!  I know what you mean!  It took me quite a while to get the C-17 done.  I haven't started on anything else since wrapping it up either.  Lots of things to do outside.  The weather here has actually been very nice!

goldhammer, yea, I'm not going anywhere, lol.  Just haven't been around as much since the break in weather.  I've been into photographing real aircraft lately as well, since we just had an airshow in my hometown.  One more show to go to next month too.  Then I'l have plenty of reference for more models!

You have come a long way in a couple of years, just like Toshi. Glad you're going to hang around,  well done m'lady.  If any of us have been a help, well, that's what we're here for, pick each others brains.  Easier to learn from someone who has "been there, done that".  I'm in the same boat, looking at what others build makes me strive to emulate...have gotten better from my kid "glue bomb" days, but nowhere near most on here.  You and Toshi in office detail paintng especially.

Hi Keyda,

Great post, you have came a long way and your build logs have been wonderful to follow.  Both you and Toshi are members who really seem to bring out the ambition for modeling.

Great to see you back.  I am also just in for a visit.  I havn't seem my workbench since April due to so many other Spring and now Summer tasks at hand.

Keyda,  there is no doubt that the second build is better, but I can’t help being impressed that you built two of them. I enjoy looking at your transport aircraft.

It's been great watching folks like you and Toshi improve from model to model in just the time you've been posting here. And great seeing the enthusium from you guys to an old dog like me that's been doing this for years and gotten a bit jaded.

Thanks everyone!  I have a Harrier to re-do at some point as well.  I think it was the second model I did.  It was at least painted, but with a paint brush, lol.

I've been busy working on a full scale project lately, so not much bench time.  But I am still lurking around here.

Great work, as always. I really enjoy following your builds, quick and wonderfully done. I only wish my skills would of improved as much as yours since joining FSM. Looking forward to the next one of your builds!

P.S. Thanks for the tip on PPP. For someone like me who makes a complete fiasco of "Putty", it is a lifesaver.

Hello!

Congratulations - a nice, clean build on the new one! And I think now you've got a definite answer to the question "why paint it if it's already molded in gray" :-D

Thanks for sharing, good luck with your builds and have a nice day

Paweł

A big thank you to forum members!

I haven't been around much lately.  Busy with Spring time chores, and what not.  But I have managed to complete a build recently that has me thinking about how far I've come in this hobby thanks to all of the forum members here.  I've learned so much over the course of just a few years.  I went from using the dining room table, and a very limited amount of supplies to now having a desk full to the brim with tools and supplies, a home made paint booth, and a pile of kits in the corner that I'm happy to call my stash.  From my first build, to the now over 40 of them neatly displayed in my living room.  I've had a blast, and I've met a bunch of great people.  This is by far the best group of people around.  Nope, I'm not going anywhere, you guys are stuck with me, lol.

I want to show what everyone here is responsible for.  When I first started this hobby I built a 1/144 C-17 Globemaster.  It is horrible.  I'm not kidding.  I knew at this point I could do much better.  So I decided to buy another kit, and build it again.  The first one didn't even get a coat of paint.  It was already grey plastic, why paint it grey?!  That was my thinking back then.

I owe everyone a big huge thank you!  If it wasn't for all of you I wouldn't of been able to do this.  Thank you! I'm pretty embarrased with the first one.Embarrassed

New one.

Old one.

Just incase you don't think the old one looks that bad, the main seam.Surprise

What seam?

On display.  I'm happy to see this one here, and I owe that to everyone on the forum!

Thank you for all the advice, tips, tricks, and support the past couple of years, I really appreciate it!
