I would like to participate too.

Unfortunately I had a kit that got the best of me over the summer, I got frustrated and it just sat there. Next modeling season I shall start something I have more interest in.

Do you mean in this general modeling forum?  I prefer to post in the appropriate forum for the genre of the model.

Post in the appropriate forums for sure - just not seeing a lot of modeling (or at least pictures of modeling) going on lately so this was more of a poke.

Thanks,

I'm willing to bet now that winter is approaching and the holidays are coming upon us, we're probably going to see more activity.

I am still trying to figure out how I can post photos of my builds to my post, I have read the help section but i find it confusing. I would like to post the photo staigh from the computer, for what I read, it seems to have to go via Photo Bucket or some other service like that.

Indeed, as with most forums i have seen you need to use a hosting site. But deffinetly stay away from PB.

Hello!

This year hasn't been lucky for modelling... But I couldn't have no projects started - so here it is:

I've been using Image Shack. I think most of them are good, I'd just steer clear of PhotoBucket...

And I've been working on lots of stuff, I just have issues finishing things.

Hi keavdog.

I'm about to downsize from a 4 bed split level detached house to a two bedroom bungalow, yes one floor! Unfortunately this process started in January, there are 10 in the chain and we are last!

We were asked only today when would we like to move, but too late restrictions on movement due to Covin 19 has put a temporary stop on all movement, even exercise and shopping 2 is OK 3 is a crowd and not allowed.

My first mistake thinking that moving house was a swift operation, was totally wrong and it might take until July! My first packing was my 300+ built models, cabinets, kits, tools etc! So I'm now so bored, still no fixed time to move, so much uncertainty, even seeing in the media, due to the moving slowdown some people are pulling out of buying or selling!

No model making at this address anytime soon!

Anyway all you avid builders, please stay safe, use common sense, listen to the medics and we will all come through these extraordinary times.

Remember , common sense is not common.

Hey everyone, what do you think of having a separate thread dedicated to each of our portfolios?

Perhaps our administrator can set-up such a subject in a maner to allow us to create the individual builder portfolios? That would be a tool to allow each of us to archive all of our builds in one location.

In theory, once we are done with our build in the specific subject or GB we would then add 1-3 photos of it in it our own portfolio. This would allow everyone the opportunity to view each others work in one location. They can use that location for reference, inspiration, darts, etc.

Can this be done?

Hey everyone, what do you think of having a separate thread dedicated to each of our portfolios?

You're talking about member galleries, as they're called on other forums.  It ought to be possible, though I don't know how many resources it would take from Kalmbach's IT developers to produce.

The functionality usually allows a member to create a gallery of photos, with comments.  And it usually includes a feature to allow other forum members to leave comments, but they can't post their own photos.  So unlike a thread, no one can hijack it.

It's different from the existing Galleries section here in FSM's forum.  Here, you submit your photos to the admins, and they decide whether to post them in the Online Galleries section.  At a forum like Planetfigure, which has member galleries, a member requests that the admins set it up, but then he can post whatever he wants.

Some forums have member galleries for projects in progress-a "workbench", as it were, and then galleries for finished work.

You should post your suggestion down in the Forum Suggestions & Feedback forum.  If you go to the index page and scroll down, you can see it.  Your idea might get more visibility to the admins that way.

Well, I visited both Fotki and Image Shack, and both required some sort of PAID membership. I understand that these sites have expenses to cover, but my situation is that I am a retired individual in a fix income, and my budget does not includes paying memberships just to put my photos somewhere in the cloud. Due to this, is very likely that I won't be putting photos on the blog anytime soon. Thanks for the answers

Hey everyone, what do you think of having a separate thread dedicated to each of our portfolios?

That's what I did on my own. I just keep adding and completing builds on one thread while showing WIP pics. I've gotten quite a bit done so far this year.

Hey everyone, what do you think of having a separate thread dedicated to each of our portfolios?

The disadvantage to that is that others can hijack your thread, however much they don't mean to.  You start a thread to show your finished builds, and others start posting pictures of their own builds.  After enough such posts, it's not really your thread anymore.
