Defective aftermarket product

I suspect BNA offered to satisfy your complaint in the hope that they would stop getting kicked around. 

I'm a small business owner and am sensitive to these kinds of public airing out. Why throw them under the proverbial bus here? We can't solve your problem for you, and frankly if I were looking for that particular item, I'd be very impressed by the apparent quality shown.

Yes,  labeling it defective is inappropriate, but you have provided info for a better informed decision before buying.   I imagine the pour stubs are the size they are,  to ensure the remaining details is crisp and without defects.  If you were to display them lying on the ground, there would be no need to worry about detail in the cleaned up area.

Parts look legit.  You need to trim and clean up the pour stub.  Not uncommon to display the finished product and have work to do in the resin world.  Nice castings though.  

Thanks for your reply guys. To answer your questions, the lag in time was I was discouraged by my inability to attach photos. The 'defect' on the armor (which I incorrectly labelled as 320mm, when it's 380mm) is the rectangular, irregular bulk sticking out of the armour like a base. Finally, you can adhere to my warning or not. I thought I was doing the community a favor, and as mentioned, BNA supported my complaint, so I cannot reconcile that the large casting protrusions are 'normal'. Cheers.

So if you are warning us again about parts from Royal Model being "defective" because they are attached to a casting block, just how long did you wait to return the parts to BNA? Because thirteen months ago, you were "debating whether to go through the tedium of returning, shipping etc."

Just curious, because based on your last "warning", it seems like a unusually generous return window. Here in the States, if we try to return a kit we had pawed through for a year after the purchase and fouled up, we normally get told to get bent. So, a lot of credit goes to BNA for truly exceptional customer service if they were willing to work with you on the matter!

Looks like BNA took care of it though. I've dealt with BNA several times on the automotive side and they have always had great customer service. 

I agree with Ed.  Looks like a quality casting with not insignificant pour stubs.

I don't see a 'big trench'.  Can the OP please annotate the Imgur photo to highlight the major flaw.  

What I see are casting stubs that are typically on resin model parts, both kits and aftermarket items.   I can actually see some background behind the stub through the pour on the left one.   Both look to be quality castings with no short pours or bubbles. 

If you want the manufacturer to do the aftermarket part cleanup for you you may need to be prepared to pay twice the price for the service

 

Yes the big trench on the bottom is a major defect!Can be reparied but you should not have to!

I can't see what's defective in your photo (hopefully not the pour stubs as that is usual with resin casting), but glad BNA offered a refund.
