1:35 scale Tamiya figures, assembled and hand painted. The diorama is scratch made.

Beautiful work, glad to see it posted over here now. Really like the colors, and the detail is remarkable.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]I agree wholeheartedly!

A beautiful job! Nice to see some scratchbuilding and initiative in making a totally unique building!

The whole dio is very impressive! Make a Toast [#toast]

Nasta,

Excellent job!  Nice scratchbuilding on the dio, good composition, excellent painting and color choice overall.  Figures look great!  You've really given the scene a sense of cold and the boredom of waiting around.  Very nice work!!  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Some nice scratchbuilding. Very nicely done. What is the glass made out of?

Thanks guys for the compliments. I really do appreciate it. The glass is plastic from CD cases. I usually use a thinner plastic but I decided to try a thicker one this time. The thicker plastic is easier to work with but I prefer using the thinner plastic. I feel that it looks more realistic. The photo below has the thinner plastic.

Veri nice dio! My only question is how did a sign, (the one in a pile of rubble behind the factory saying "Leningrad") with latin letters on it, get to Leningrad where they use cyrillic alphabet?Smile [:)]

Thanks for the compliment and cyrillic observation. lol
You are the 1st the mention this.
It never dawned on me to use the Russian letters. lol
I just used the Leningrad sign so observers would know where the scene is taking place in.
Thanks again.
I'll see if I can dig up Leningrad sign in the proper language. lol

I really do like this, and the way you painted the figures. One thing that most folks don't know about WWII German (and most Warsaw Pact as well) ammo is that the cases are actually a copper color, and in some instances are a dark steel gray. Brass was in a very short supply all thru WWII.

I keep coming back to this dio. I love the colors. Very warm. Every time, I notice something that I haven't before, and I really get a kick out of that.

Any word on your next project?

Thanks a lot Steve. I greatly appreciate it. I have no idea what I am going to make next. That's how I usually operate. I have been refurbishing old armor vehicles which a friend gave me a while back. They are about 10 to 20 years old but made like a 5 year old. LOL. I'm not kidding. They are also missing parts so I'm attempting to re-create the lost items. I'm taking them apart piece by piece and starting each kit over to the best of my ability due to the missing parts situation and some of the tracks are missing also. Errrrrrr.

I'll make a diorama with each vehicle and post them when I'm done. That should be very interesting when I do. I built something for a toy soldier manufacturer which will be showcased on Sept. 28 at the big Chicago show for manufacturers of toy soldiers. It's a cool piece to have but it isn't in 1:35 scale. It will be used for 1:32 or 1:30 scale figures or vehicles. I wish I could say more about the piece I created but I can't until it is released. Top Secret stuff. LOL.

Did you find the shovel in the vignette?
Take care and thanks again and thanks to all who made compliments. You guys are great.

Holy smokes, that's awesome!

Someone beat me to the comment on the sign. Ah well.

First thing that jumped out at me (after I got over the awe of seeing this beautiful level of detail) was, looks like you've got two infantrymen and one tanker (or StuG'er) in there. The grunts are bundled up but the tanker isn't. Is he a little out of place without winter gear?

He does look cold, though, so maybe not.

Thanks J. Glad you like it. The StuGer had his tank blown to bits the other day while involved in some vicious fighting with the Russians. The rest of the crew were killed. He had no time to get a heavy coat due to the fire inside the tank. Soon he should be taking out one of the (scratch made) rolled blankets which are underneath the (scratch made) bench and throw it on himself. At first I hand him next to one of the 55 gallon drums getting warm but then I decided to rest him against the wall which blocked some of the cold wind. I have a tanker blouse/shirt similar to my little tanker figure hanging up in my closet.
Thanks again J.

Regards,

Nick

Amazing!

I really like the "Fire barrels", such a nice touch. Please don't take this next comment as any sort of critisism as I could only wish to have the skills you have. I think the fire barrels would look even better if there was an led in the bottom of the barrel to give it that glowing effect. Like I said don't take that as critisism in any way shape or form, the idea just popped into my head as I was looking at the pics and thought I would suggest it if you ever happen to build anything like that again.

 Once again amazing build!

Higgy, that's a good idea,I'll try to remember that the next time. Don't worry about being a critic,I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say. It makes me a better builder. I'm human like everyone else on this forum. lol. Thanks for the compliment on this and the Ambush diorama. Have you seen my WWI German trench system yet? It is pretty good. It's all scratch built, even the barbed wire.

One tip I got on doing "fire" lit with LEDs and such. Use spun glass "Angel Hair" rather than cotton... It picks up the glow of the LED and transmits it, ala fiber optics, as well as reflecting it...  I don't have a source for it, I got lucky (depends on your perspective. Household 6 didn't think it was "lucky") and a Christmas tree-topper that had it in it did a power-off dive from the the attic a few years ago...
