The project is very cool, but also kinda scary because of it's sheer size. I admire your enthusiasm! How long did it take you to build it all? You have to watch one thing, though - you're putting a lot of work into this one, so I'd like to point out some minor things that you might want to reconsider to make this even better. Like putting finer chain in line with the railing - this one looks mighty heavy here:

A finer chain here would improve the looks a lot. The wiring above the "door" would need attention too - you know, little things like that. But those are easy to miss among the huge amount of work you have on your hands. That's why most people shy away from projects this large - or tackle them in groups.

I'd also like to comment on the truck - IMO the chassis is much too light for that crane - it's only capable of 2,5 tons (OK, 5 tons on paved roads). The truck in the photo looks more like 5 tons or even 10 tons truck. A straight 2,5 tons GMC in nice Navy gray would look better here.

I agree on the crane truck.  The crane in the picture is based on a White 666  (6 ton, 6x6 drive) truck.  The 2 1/2 ton CCKW truck would buckle under the weight of the crane and cargo load. There is a 1/35 model of the White 666 by Hobby Boss if you want to redo it.

I do have one question.  This project is beyond anything I have done and is looking real good, but there is something I am curious about.  It appears to be set in WWII, judging by the ship and truck.  Admittedly I don't know much about warships as my area is mostly aircraft and A.F. police vehicles, but aren't the boats on the sides of the turrets too modern?  We used to have a supply point in my home town for storage of WWII equipment until they could be disposed of.  Included was a great number of rafts like you would see on ships.  The ones you are using appear to be some type of Zodiac boat, not a life raft.  Do I have it wrong?  Like I said, it really isn't my area, to me it just doesn't look right.

I'm very impressed, too, astounding work so far.  I do need to ask to clarify, though--this isn't a depiction of action during the Japanese attack, but rather, a Iowa-class battleship docked, with activity on the dock alongside, right?

Those rafts would be about 4' x 8' and 10-12" thick, and not the 5 x 18 x 2.5' dimensions of a Zodiac.

You need to hunt up a mesh that's right at 3/32" on center, to represent the netting used on the foredeck lifelines of many US warships of the time.  There probably ought to be a paravane lashed to the bulkhead under the B turret (this would not appear in the post-WWII line drawing of Iowa-class battleship you used.

Still an incredible work so far.

This is truly remarkable work. You must be fabricating a lot of these pieces. I would really like to know how you are making some of these. When you added the Japanese fighter, it certainly changed my perception of the diorama, though. I would think if a Japanese plane were buzzing the port, the people would be in different activities. For example, I doubt a sailor would still be sweeping the deck. Aside from these kinds of questions with the addition of the attack theme, I am truly amazed at what you are accomplishing. Congratulations!

about the action of people on the ship and at the dock.

it's normal that all of them wont see the plane at the same time because of the noise around,

and if the plane come from your back when you see it it will be over your head.  here you can see where the noise is comming from

This is brilliant work!!!! I can look at this all day and find something new to look at every time. Where in the world are you going to display this at.....museum possibly?

WOW! I can't even finish a dio with a single tank and few infantry figures. It may have some issues here and there but I'm amazed by the amount of work you're put into this!
