Gorgeous, man! Great finish, nice groundwork!

One of the advantages of Celluclay is that you can "sink" the tracks into the snow, giving the vehicle the impression of "weight". Try that on the next one; it should be modelled that way on a muddy track.

I've used hemp fiber before for "grass"--I agree, it looks great!

Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Big Smile [:D]!!!

Thanks MR, Kykeon and Madmike.

Now you tell me about the celluclay!Big Smile [:D] I used the modeling clay because I had it on hand and was too lazy to go shopping to find celluclay.  The tow cables were annoying to work with.  The dragon kit actually has metal wire for it and it is hard to bend.  That is something good to know and remember for next time Kykeon, thanks.  This was the first Tank I ever built.  I am mainly a WW2 aircraft modeller.

For the Winter camo on the T-34 I first painted it a dark green.  I think I used Tamiya IJA green.  Then I sprayed a light coat of Gunze Off-white and then added a wash of first black then a dark brown.  I also dry-brushed some green and browns in areas of wear.  Not anything fancy just some of the basics.

Thanks for looking

A very nice vignette with an equally nice T-34 kit. Love the whitewash finish as well, please tell us how you achieved the finish.

cheers

Mike

Looks really nice, hard to tell it's not 1/35th. Thumbs Up [tup]

Modeling clay probably isn't the best medium, as you have found out. Celluclay...or better yet, IMHO, Plaster of Paris over Styrofoam/plaster bandage is the way to go. My only worry are the tow cables, they are rather stiff in real life and they probably wouldn't bend 180 degrees in such a tight turn. Other than that....great visuals.

Winter T-34 vignette

So after seeing some of the amazing stuff you guys make on this thread, I thought I'd try my hand!  This is what I came up with. Big Smile [:D]  I built the Dragon 1:72 T-34 about a year and a half ago and have sort of had this winter scene in mind for a litle vignette.  I was imagining a patrol of T-34s skirting the edge of some trees by a grassy pasture.  I hope this portrays the idea accurately. For the base I used modelling clay which is a pain in the a$$ because it shrinks and cracks.  I had to fill a bunch of the cracks before I painted it.  I used acrylic dark brown.  I then added the trees which is cuttings from a potentilla bush.  I think they make great 1:72 trees!  I then added the grass which is a whole bunch of clippings from a length of hemp rope.  I think it looks pretty realistic.  Lastly for the snow I added white tempura paint powder, sprinkled in place.

Let me know what you think, don't be too gentle, I've got pretty thick skin Wink [;)]
