Hi every one
This is my first proper post on this Forum so please excuse me if the photos are all over the place and the text looks a bit wierd!!!
As a kind of introduction I thought I would show you this Spitfire I built recently. This project took me over 3 years to build as I had to do a lot of research and I had to try to figure out ways of making the parts I wanted to be removable ...work. The Pilots seat is removable and also the front Fuel Cells.I have also hidden in amongst the detail wheat bulbs so that they light up.
The interior of this Spitfire was scratch built...the Engine was enhanced with many scratch built parts added. The Kit I used for this project was the old 1970s Airfix mk1a kit.
I don't know how many photos I am allowed to post here but if I can there will be quite a few as it is a large project.
Any feed back...good or bad would be appreciated.........................
Ready for Inspection 1:24 Scale Spitfire.......Scratch built Lysander....1:24 Scale Stuka
Hopefully the photos continue here...still not used to this system yet...my apologies!!
Here are some shots of the Merlin Engine........
Heres some photos of the fuel cells....
....and now with the top fuel cell out......
...and with the bottom cell out......
Here are some shots of the Cockpit with the seat in....not very good pics I'm afraid!!
....and some shots with the seat out..........
These next photos show the detail aft of the Pilots seat and through to the back of the Fuselage........
....a shot from below of the Gun Bays...
and finally the bottom of the power plant......
Well thats it!!
For those of you who are interested, the entire build of this project can be seen at my web site below.
Thanks for looking in

Outstanding build, no critique from this humbled modeler.
Somehow I knew you would bring kung-fu style, technique & skill to the big brawl!
Looks like the link is up and working also, will stop in later today to check out your site.

Really superb work! I checked out your gallery and thought the Lysander build very impressive. I have a balsa TBM kit that I may try and super detail in the future....way,way in the future..lol

Where do you even find reference pictures to add detail like that? When I want to add detail, I scour for weeks looking for reference photos and the best I find is restored planes with parts missing, or line drawings with approximations. That is just unreal

Fred it took me months of researching the internet and books,I did one stage at a time...yes indeed a lot of scouring was needed
Thanks everyone for your kind comments....

Superb work Foz - i can't even fathom how one would start a project like that!

For those of us who will probably never get the chance to see the innerworkings of a REAL Spit, you did it, amazing job! When you see all those wires and lines it makes me wonder how those crates stayed in the air taking a few 20mm rounds... of course, many didn't I suppose.
Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom. Peace be with you.

Thanks a lot mate
Foz, that is some outstanding work.
I always love seeing a cutaway every once and a while.
jetmodeler Foz, that is some outstanding work. I always love seeing a cutaway every once and a while.
Thanks .......I have to say I really like doing cutaways because I have always been fascinated as a child in how things work and what does it look inside so to speak!!
This is really some great work! I can't even imagine how long a project like that would take. Thanks for sharing.

I have to say that the amount of detail in this build is stunning. Thank you for the pictures!

Once again ....I really appreciate your comments...thanks guys
Outstanding build and after 3 yrs of work, refs, detail!
I guess I'll have to slow down my work just to add some more detail to even come close! Being retired (with 35 unbuild kits) once I get my work shop fixed (new house, garage, etc.), you are my hero!
Considering your location and the lack of mateials available........OUTSTANDING!
Hope you contribute this build to FSM for all to see!
Absolutely outstanding work. Have you thought of entering it into contests? Whoops, if you do, a few of us might as well go home, especially me. Keep up the great work and keep posting the photos.
