Howdy all,
It's been over 2 years since i last posted an example of my work, the main reason is, because nothing has left my bench in that time.
I now present below P-47D which i'm calling (largely) DONE.
This kit was started in March 2012 as part of the NMF Group Build. Unfortunately, personal issues got in the way and it languished for over 18 months part complete, with over 12 months of that time in a storage shed.
Thankfully, those personal issues have now been all resolved and life is great again!
It also means i got to unpack my stash and get back to building.
Before it went into storage, i had only managed to get to decaling stage, without an overcoat. This cost me dearly as nearly all the decals have cracked and were pealing. This was made worse when i was putting pastels on early this week, with some decals flaking off. The underside is much worse than the topside and hence, i'm too embarrassed to publish any photos of the underside.
You're all aware this is a great kit. There is an awful wing root seam which was also a result i suspect of it's storage. I had filled and sanded, but by the time i got it out again, a lot of the putty had cracked and left the seem looking worse for wear.
Last but not least, after taking these photos, i realised i'd left off the pitot tube. I'll have to add this tomorrow.
I've also included a few photos of the engine - i added a little bit of scratch building (my first attempt), but failed to take a photo of it fully painted prior to installation.
Critiques and suggestions welcome.
Thanks for looking.
