Great work! I need to add a few more Eduard kits to my stash, so far I only have their Fw-190 and I hear it's a bit of a beast

Hey thanks guys!

Joe: Yeah, I went out and bought 'Dogfights' a year or so ago, wish History would do more like it. I did use your streaking technique on the Hellcat though I'm not sure it shows in the photos- I'm still a little gunshy about going too stark with it. Thanks for the inspiration and the help there!

Excellent work! You nailed the tri-scheme. I built the same kit in the same markings after watching the same Dogfights show. Actually, that particular series had inspired many of my builds (Swett's Wildcat, Olds' P-38, Anderson's Old Crow, Mayer's Fw 190, Dahlberg's P-47 to name a few). Too bad that show only lasted a couple years. Unfortunately most of those guys are no longer with us. The Eduard kit is awesome. I just grabbed their dash 5 off ebay so I'm gonna give that one a whirl soon. Thanks again for sharing.....and nice N1K1 too...

Thanks guys!!!

Marc- I wanted to build a Corsair but I can't compete with yours! Wish I had more time to follow more of the GBs going on here.

Overcast skies do little to hide the beauty of this Hellcat.  Very nice!

Gorgeous Hellcat, Gamera! Just wonderful work.

I especially like the panel highlighting and weathering, very convincing; subtle, yet effective. In fact, when I clicked on this post, for a moment I thought the first photo was of a 1:1 Hellcat at an outdoor museum display! Well done!

Hey wow, thanks bunches guys!!!

I have to admit there are a few little 'issues' here and there that would get me dinged in a contest that don't really show in the photos though!

Jay Jay: The Hasegawa Hellcat is a really nice kit too, I've heard people knock it for shape issues on the intake on the lower cowling front (the Hellcat's mouth as it were) but otherwise fit is really solid.

And it's funny, I had the Shiden 'George' sitting there and just figured 'what the heck' I'll just snap a photo of both of them together while I was taking pictures.

Gamera,

Very nice build! I really like the picture with the Hellcat nose to nose with the George!

WOW,  you've nailed that F6  !

I 've got an HSG F6 in the stash and envisoined mine looking just like that if I can pull it off.  My builds are always better in my mind than the actual outcome however. Very impressive build.

Thanks guys!

Very true Joe, the Eduard kit is a gem, I only used a drab of putty here and there, fit is like a glove. And with the PE and masks included you only need to add paint and cement- if it were any simpler it'd assemble itself!

Went out and picked up the F6F-5 night-fighter Hellcat a little while back, it's all over glossy blue so it should be even simpler!

Another amazing build, I still don't know how you members are able to highlight the panels!  What a fantastic job, I love the side by side with the Japanese aircraft.

Absoutely stunning Hellcat. Great paint work and excellent weathering. You should be right proud of the outcome on this one. You've got to just love those Eduard Hellcats. They are excellent kits. I just recently finished their 1/72 F6F-3 and it was a dream to build. Thanks for sharing with us.

Finished this a few weeks ago for Son of Medicine Man's Berny GB IV. I wasn't totally happy with the photos but between the hurricane and another storm system we've had two weeks of rain with another one forecast. So I'm going to post them anyway since who knows when I'll get another chance to take more photos.

Eduard kit, I added nothing to it, the kit came with PE parts and masks for the canopy so you really don't need to add anything. I'd just watched an episode of the History Channel's old series 'Dogfights' about Lt. Alex Vraciu so I marked the plane as his mount.
