Scale color theory is a concept that is invaluable. I use it on 99.5% of every color I shoot. Once you get that hang of what grey/white % to use, it will transform your builds -- especialy when shooting dark colors!

Looks nice, Toshi. The black is very stark, which is a lot for 1/72 (or even 48th). Using scale color theory to lighten it up a bit would really set it off.

Thank you sir, I will look up scale color theory now.  Thank you for the visit and reply.

This is just plain out awesome. There may be some things that need touch up and attention as GM was mentioning but hey, we are here to learn and without building.............we aint learnin'. Keep at it buddy and keep taking the constructive criticism the way you are. I need to follow the thread because I just got this for my son for Christmas. I may have to siddown with him on this one. lol. Great work on the paint and decals Tosh!! You're gettin' better with every build! Yes

Thank you sir, and yes, through our trial and errors we can overcome anything.  You should do a WIP of your sons build and he can see how his own thread looks, maybe even letting him write them as well?  Of course with you siddown with him on this one as well.  LOL!!

Toshi,

I blinked and you finished your build. Great job my friend! You've inspired me to ramp up work on my current project (1/72 Academy F4F-4 Wildcat.)

How cool is that, I'm working on it's big brother, F6F Hellcat 1:48 Revell.  I'd like to see your project sir!  Thanks for the visit.

Go do that trumpet solo!

Panel lines are bullpuck. Not seriously, but at 1/72 on a bird that was cared for like a prize cow, no way. This is the Strategic Air Command, man! You look fine there.

I happen to be a big fan of 1/72. I have a little 1/72 P-51D Tuskeegee that I am looking forward to sticking together.

Here was my twin Mustang.

Wow, nice F-82!  Yes, I'll blow my horn, the only blowing I'll do is at the other end.  LOL!!!

Interestingly enough, the MENTIS program is trying to get me to perform on a professional level again.  It's to help with memory, fine tuning of the memory, multitasking, and utilizing both hemispheres at the same time.  One side of the brain for technique and the other side for artistic rendition.  If I can accomplish this, I should be able to gain much more physically and mentally.  I can only try and see or in the words of the Master Jedi Yoda; "Do, or do not, try and you have failed.

Good job Toshi.

I will be a critic however. Look very carefully at the decals for the tails, the wingtips and the fuselage bands. See a lot of places where they don't come together. What you need to do is mix up some blue and go in there and get rid of the black. Same with the white and yellow.

The canopies got foggy. I'll bet it was caused by super glue. Thats a tough one, it's happened to all of us. Dipping them in Future usually prevents that, otherwise don't use superglue or wait a while before you put them on.

The prop spinner and tip paint job is good, but not really nice. If you had masked the blades first, the yellow would not have gotten up on there. And you should go back and touch up the tips. Dipping them in paint, hand painting, etc. is not up to the standards you have the talent to get to.

I would also point out that the blades are not glossy, they are flat finish. You know how to fix that. Dull cote works fine on a brush too. The same goes for the tires.

These are all things that are just "finishing touches" to your nice model

Thank you sir, I appreciate your honest opinion in my finish.  It is this task that I'm weak at.  I've learned to assemble and apply the many tips given, but have yet to hear these things you so honestly point out.

These are simple finishing items that I feel I can complete and will do so now that you brought it up.  My only big issue I've continued to fail at is pre-weathering the panel lines and AB the aircraft without erasing the lines!   LOL!!  This is as difficult a task as I have ever encountered.

If I can get my panel lines done and apply these simple overlooked finishing items, I feel that I'm that much closer to truly nothing as I have much more to learn, yet it will be fulfilling to at the very least to get to that point.  I'm sure you understand my thoughts.  Thanks GMorrison!  I continue to strive for perfection.  At least close to.

Wowzza, Toshi -

You 'da man, great looking build and finish. Those difficult decals really came out perfectly, the paint and detailing are all well done. You have become a very proficient model builder in quite a short time, scary to think of how good you'll be in the time ahead. If you don't slow down a bit, you'll leave the rest of us in your dust.

Thanks for the WIP and photos.

Patrick

Thank you sir, I try my best.  The decals were the most difficult issues on this build hence, your statement is correct.  The painting came in second then the build itself.  I hope your other statement rings through in that you will be eating my smoke down the road.  We need to have a see approach to this...0

 Thank you Patrick206

Sweet plane. Looks awesome. Did you really finish it in 4 days?? You make me feel like a procrastinator!

Don't feel like that, I didn't do anything my wife asked me to do!  LOL!  Four days is my limit.  LOL!  Thanks for the read and reply.

Bish

What you mean finally, you only started the damn thing 4 days ago. Really does build though, Love the scheme, those decals could not have been easy. Welcome to the chosen scale.

I hope you don't mind another suggestion. If you are going to do a seperate thred for the completed pics rather than just put them in your build thread, it might be nice to add a link to the build so people can see your progress.

Thank you, I'm happy to be a part of the chosen!  LOL!!  I'll remember to do the link, thanks for the tip and the read and reply.

What a sharp looking, clean build, Toshi! Nice paintwork, too. Smile I like the colour scheme.

I originally was going to do the all time ubiquitous silver color until I saw an example on Wikipedia of the night fighter version.  I like the scheme as well.  Thank you for the read and reply.
