Thanks Lawdog, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between kit and self-inflicted.

Its not you...its the kit. Absolutely brutal fit-wise and an exercise in patience. One of the first kits I build when I returned and I almost quit again. That said, you did a beautiful job on it.

Great build, especially with a poor-quality kit! I've always liked the Warthog and definitely glad they decided not to retire it!

Amen.

Came out a beauty, assembly, painting and all. Nice build!

Thanks Allan. I surprised myself.

Slingshot
feel your pain. You did a great job. It's gratifying to turn a &$#@ kit into something decent...I too bought an A-10 kit that was beyond terrible to build. final result was ok, but like you - so much customization/putty/extra work to get it to look somewhat close to what it's supposed to.

Improvise, adapt, overcome. Everything will be put to use on subsequent builds. Thanks for the comment and back at you on yours. I really like the standrad gray clean look but wanted to experiment with freehand air. Is that you earning a paycheck wing side ? Lucky you. Hard to believe that at one point there was a debate as to replacing these monsters.

I'm now contemplating the Trumpeter 1:32 version with all the fancy upgrade bits for it.....

I'm partial to these aircraft as I spent a week overseas working with them.

Considering the source that's quite a compliment, thanks Tosh.

Despite the issues and concerns, you did a fantastic job on this build!

Nice job on this less-than-perfect kit. I admire your fortitude on sticking with it to the finish.

I think you did a good job on it, especially with all of the problems you had with it.  I like the camo paint job.  Keep up the good work.

And....Hasegawa doesn't make an A-10. I don't know why I thought that. Maybe once upon a time.

The HobbyBoss kit seems to get really positive reviews.

I think it's a very nice model of a bad kit. I picked one up once a really long time ago at a hobby shop GOB sale, and ended up throwing it away half done.

Since it's your favorite a/c, I'm sure the Hasegawa one is a whole lot better.

Not as seemingly seamless as it seems

This is my first subject specific forum I've posted to. This is my personally favorite aircraft, the A-10. I was always under the impression that the impetus for the development of a new ( at the time ) generation close ground support aircraft was predicated on the need to counter-balance the armored divisions of the Warsaw Pact pouring through, the Fulda Gap, say, and hold until reinforcements arrive. What little research I did for this neither confirmed nor dispelled my belief. Anyhow this is Revlell' s 1:48 model. I got a bad kit. The plastic;rubbery, 3 of the sprues' injection molding were molded deep enough to be integral parts of the pieces attached to them, one side of fuselage and its corresponding parts had all the raised details doubled in number and in height, its opposite side and parts were barely visible. I used a lot of perfect putty, had to mickey mouse the cockpit to fit,all the contact points were off and that antenna on the wing... . Known self inflicted errors were the nose decal, the canopy, and boarding ladder, and I'm less than thrilled with the wheels, don't know how you guys do it. This was my first time I tried free hand airbrushing a camo thus the wide pattern. In fact other than most of the cockpit it was all air, including the smallest touch ups. Also used Mr. Surfacer for priming considering the state it was in and I liked it. Other special tools included: a Harley hammer,Sawz-all, and arc welder. Thanks.
