To my fellow forum members,

As you know by now, I had to cease and desist the Monogram 1:48 PBY-5 Catalina.  I'm currently awaiting some paint via eBay, when that arrives, I will restart that build for completion.

Until then, Mrs. Toshi purchased this kit for me from Hobby Lobby.  As always, It will be my pleasure to provide a step by step building sequence to FSM Forum Members.  This particular kit provides two sets of painted and detailed interior/exterior PE.  This will only be my 5th German WWII Aircraft, this will be build number 42 for me.  I hope I can meet all expectations of forum members.  Thank you in advance for the Read and reply.

Oh, I love the look of the 410, it's like a German "Mossie". It's cool that that kit comes with PE, niether of the two Pro-Modler kits that I have recently build had PE. Have fun with your 42nd build....I have a lot of builds to do to catch up with you...I've only built 25 since I started two years ago. Smile  Yes

You know, it does look like a German Mosquito.  I was shocked to find PE as a facrory edition .  The only other kit from Revell I built that came with PE from Revell was the High Tech Kingfisher in 1:48.  Thank you for the visit.

I picked up the same kit last week and was also surprised by the included PE. I'll be watching this come together.

I'll be checking in Toshi. Nice looking kit and I'm sure you'll do a bang up job as usual.

If I remember correctly the canopy on that one was a right bugger to fit but it's a neat one to build

Well now, the first thing to do as far as assembly is concerned with this kit is very unusual.  Right off the bat, you're doing PE.  Here's a few photos below.

You have already done a great job on the PE.  This was the first kit I made with PE and I managed to glue the parts to my fingers more than the model

Thank you Greatmaker.  I too had PE fingers on my first PE build.  What was worst was that that was my first build after a 40 year haitus.  I did a Monogram Blackwidow with interior PE, resin engines, AM cowlings, and props.  I guess I was way too excited.  LOL!

To Tempestjohnny,

I will do my best with this build.  I am very excited as this kit comes with two frets of PE.  Thank you sir for visiting my thread.

I'm glad you brought that up.

Toshi, the instructions call for piecing the canopy together ON the plane. I glued my canopy together BEFORE I attached it and the fit was great. The way the kit part is designed is a real PITA to install as they intended. Try assembling the canopy into one piece before you attach it. You may have an easier time than you would otherwise.

Just a heads up on the PE controls. They have some clearance issues with the side walls when you close up the fuselage halves. They may need some light tweeking to get it all to fit together when closed up.

Lookin' really good, Toshi.

Thanks lawdog114.  Mrs. Toshi and I was as shocked as you are as far as the included PE frets were concerned.  I must add, working with PE in 1:48 is a new challenge for me.  Thank you for following with the read and reply.

The last time I worked on 1:48 PE was on a Revell High Tech Kingfisher build.  The PE fret was nowhere near, not even close to the number of PE parts as it is to this Me 410 build.  Working with PE in this scale is a challenge for me.

So far, this is what I was able to complete yesterday.  Actually, it's taken me two days just to do the front half of the cockpit.  This has been an interesting challenge for me.  Here are the results.

Toshi,

Great job on the pit so far!

I must admit that, although I kind of enjoy working with PE - and 1/48 aircraft is the scale that I do - I'm not real good at it yet. I'm not sure I'll ever get to a stage where I'm satisfied with my work in photo etched stuff but looking at how you've managed to do yours, I have hope that I'll be able to approach your skills someday.

You're doing great things with the PE Toshi. Looks excellent. I have to admit that the PE set that is included is quite impressive.

Great work on the pit Toshi, and a good choice of subject. I have never heard of Revell puting PE in there kits, never seen it in an RoG kit thats for sure.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
