1/48 Hasegawa F1M2 Model 11 "Pete" Japanese Recon

This is the 1/48 Hasagawa F1M "Pete" recon bi-plane. It was a really fun kit and very detailed. The kit is challenging so it's not for beginners, but anyone who has a few kits under their belt would enjoy it. The rigging is part of a seperate PE set offered by Hasagawa and does not come with the kit but is meant soley for this kit. It really adds a great level of detail to the build, but at a cost of increased difficulty, as this is not an easy PE kit to work with.

I opted to not weather this one up and leave it fairly clean as all the photos I could find of this kind of plane showed them in pretty decent condition. Some of the photos were pretty poor so there may have and most likely were some in rough shape, I just didn't see any. Also with the complexity of assembly this kit requires to paint and whatnot, I didn't want to make it more work by weathering it up. So, it's mostly clean.

I completed this build for the Floats and Boats GB. Now that this one is done I can return to my P-40 WIP and get those two knocked out.

Looks great Brandon!

I have the same kit along with the PE in my stash but after my disaster with my stringbag I'm loath to try another bip just now. I will get to it someday though.

I marvel at even, straight rigging and, like others have said, I enjoy seeing a clean aircraft for a change.

WOW! That's one beautiful build! I really like the clean look especially the rig. I have yet to make a bi-plane as I fear doing the rigging.

Hey Brandon, There are places for both clean and weathered. I'm mostly a clean guy and I'm trying to build a slightly weathered Stuka. I'm finding out that weathering and dings is another challenging aspect of modeling. As for my favorite displays in my office they look new as leaving the factory or a museum setting.

Your example of a clean build is just excellent (the Gang has used up all the words) and would look great in my museum. Nice job and keep up the good work!
