Completed Revell 1/48 P-40B Tiger Shark

Here is my very first AB.  I actually AB a part of the bottom half of the P-40.  I also figured out how to operate it and I actually AB the Revell 1/48 B-24 Liberator of which came out ok.  My only issue were the canned AB propellant.  

Even if it sat in a pot of luke warm water, it would still occasionally freeze.  Oh well.  Eventually Mrs. Toshi hooked me up with a Harbor Frieght Tools compressor and siphon AB.  We then went to Hobby Lobby the same day and Mrs. Toshi purchased the NEO by Iwata gravity feed brush.  So that's how I got started in this hobby and everything went from there!

Since you gave away your last one, I say Tigers as well. I think, at this point, you just have to have a Tigers P-40-B in the collection. 

Well, at the very least, my figure painting went from the walking dead to the living dead.  I dont know what that means, you have to ask my daughter about that one.  But at the very least we had fun and we laughed.  Especially Mrs. Toshi.  

She was at a lost for words, all she wanted today was to go "Panda Express" for lunch.  It was good for what it is, now Mrs. Toshi wants to go again on Monday with my niece.  If I can get out of it, I'll be working on my Tigershark!  LOL!  LOL!

As my good friend has pointed out, there were going to be one issue that needed TLC!  And that it pertained to what else?  lets see!  Putty, putty, putty, putty oh yes, let's not forget putty, more putty, and the most important facet of thi build is the putty.

Toshi - You could have just bought a one gallon pail of putty, let it set up and then carve out a P-40 in 48th scale. You're a brave modeler tackling this one, but we know you to be fearless.

I think I know what's wrong with your pilot. He doesn't have any eyebrows lol. Otherwise I think he'll do nicely.  :)

Also, don't forget that the panels behind the cockpit under the glass should be O.D. and NOT the pit color. The same mistake we all seem to make with this kit lol. I did it too!

Otherwise you seem to have this putty monster well in hand. :)

The directions do show do show "D" zinc chromate for that area. Mom told me to follow instructions! LOL.

Yeah I know. That's why we all make that mistake lol. If you look at mine I painted it pit color as well. Just one of the many reasons this kit needs an update lol.

Mike and Toshi, the OD behind the plexi panels is used only for USAAC/AAF birds.  For the AVG/RAF birds, it is the RAF colors used as shown in color photos of R.T. Smith's aircraft.  Mama Monogram isn't always right as the B models never had the plumbing for drop tanks also.

Some of the alignment/mounting pins were either too large or misaligned.  I cut them all off.

As you can see, the wings needed some serious adjustments and some Tamiya putty.  Next up is to clean up a few things then my favorite thing to do.  Paint or AB in this case.

Then the wings jarred loose.  Oh boy!  More CA and even more putty was needed to ensure the wings didn't take off of the fueselage.  I cleaned everything up and now comes the AB!  Thank you for the read and reply!

Hey Toshi, your P-40 is looking good. It is not a bad kit at all, just that the older kits requrie more modeling than the more recent shake-and-bake high priced kits.

I notice you have attached the pitot tube. Because it is so breakable, I might suggest that you leave such items off until the end of the build.
