Best places to buy PE parts and kits?
Posted by scaler on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 3:39 PM

Just wondering what your favorite retailers are when it comes to sourcing Eduard PE parts and such. I've heard that buying directly off Eduard web site is not the best option in terms of pricing. Is that so?

Some think this is actually fun!

Even for US-based modelers?

I can't speak for US based modellers from experiance, but with the £ on the flor at the moment, it might be a good option.

I have ordered from Hannants once...just because I couldn't get what I needed, stateside (out of stock)...price was not much different, just a buck or two more for the shipping. Also, got my items a day before my stateside order!

My go-to's are Squadron.com and Sprue Bros....Sprue Bros does seem to have more selection, and they carry things/brands that you can't get from Squadron.

I will second, third, and throw my whole suggestion behind spruebrothers. They always seem to have a great selection of Eduard, ship fast, and they shipping costs are A LOT less than Squadron. Thats why I never buy from squadron... $10 for anything over $15 that will take a week to get from Dallas to Houston? Nope. Anyway, spruebrothers.

Also, check out BNA model world. I got into them for a lot of their model car detail accessories they carrier, but they are amazing for PE Eduard as well. They're out of Australia, but don't let the deter you. Shipping is usually less than $5 on PE parts, it isn't tracked but i've never ever had an issue and it usually gets here within 10 days.

Just my 2 suggestions!

Scalehobbyist is always mentioned in these kinds of posts, and for good reasons. Price, selection & service without compromise. I also like Sprue Bros. and Hannants, especially Hannants for aftermarket stuff that doesn't have USA distribution. As stated above, their prices and shipping charges are very reasonable.

Spruebrothers....great selection and quick delivery. If I can't find it there....ebay.

I've used primarily Squadron and Roll Models.  I have occasionally picked up popular kits from Amazon when I wanted something right now.  Their shipping is really fast.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I like SprueBrothers as well but I tend to hit the other modeling forums For Sale sections first with a want ad and usually find a spare from another modeler for a great price. If no luck, then I just order them.

Every site has different prices on what you're looking for. Shop around and compare. Your LHS should be your first stop though.
