Wilbur, I agree about the state of mind. Your Ferraris sound like fun and I truly hope you enjoy them. A change of pace can be nice for sure.

Thanks for your nice comments.

Mikey. I guess I'm not the only one who has slumps. It is notable the repeat that I spend a year on the shake and bake Tamiya kit. Confused Geeked

Thank you for your kind words.

Hey, thanks Man City. It's nice to hear from you and your comments are appreciated.

Very nice job! The paint job is excellent, the figures are great, and I especially like the decal work. All looks top notch to me. Thanks for sharing.

Looks great I've found that a realatively "easy" build helps me out of slumps as well

Nice Work Greg,

I like the base as well. We all get in slumps. This hobby is not like building a fence. It takes precision and finesse,  as you know. You have to be in the right state of mind to go to the bench and make progress,  and life and business often get in the way.

I have 3 or 4 Ferrari models I'm lining up for the summer after my current PBY.   Two have been lingering and two are new. Those take a different set of skills and dicipline, as I'm not usually a car modeler.  Hopefully I will power through and enjoy it without losing my mind on the details.  You have to remember to enjoy it.

Again very nice job.

So glad you saw this and popped in, Joe!

You've been a big inspiration to me the past few years, and I'm sure some of the things that I might have done right on this kit I probably learned from you.

Thanks!

Greg that looks awesome....the base too. My I-phone takes better pics than my old Nikon. Now I just snap my pics and download them right to Photobucket. Thanks for sharing your Stang...

docidle

You did a beautiful job on her Greg. I hope that when I get to building mine that it will come out as well.

Steve

Thank you, Steve. I'm sure you will have no problems. Yes

Hope all is well down in Tempe. I really like the Tempe/Scottsdale area. Spent vacations there as a kid, lots of fond memories. And I am heartbroken that Pinnacle Peak Patio closed. Crying

Johnny, that's kind, thank you. And if I'm proud of anything it's being a part of this fine group of folks.

Bish, and not the first or last time you will inspire me, my friend.

Templar, thank you! I'd encourage you to try the Alclad. If I can do it, you can. Trust me. My dad used to tell me I could screw up a two car funeral. I though he was kidding but sometimes I'm not so sure.

Thanks Max! So glad you took the time to stop in. And it was a fun little kit indeed. Yes

Mike, see my comment to Templar, you can handle the Alclad. I wasn't going to a highly polished look for my first go, just primed with Stynylrez black and applied Alclad airframe aluminum (and later some other Alclad shades on sections of the wing tops). Again, you can do this.

I can't comment on the Kills or Captain Turner, I'm one of those modelers who is happy trying to duplicate box art or at least follow the painting directions. I do know a pilot named Rick Turner and I'm really starting to wonder if this might have been his grandpappy tho.

Thanks for your kind words, BTW.

Waikong, how nice of you to stop in! Thank you. Still being a relative newbie, it's always a treat hearing from you more tenured forum members. Yes

Stephen, thank you very much!

Hey, Bobby's here! Thanks buddy, great to hear from you and so glad you popped in. Yes

After having seen what you've done here I may just have to get that Tamiya kit. My only reservation would be my total lack of experience using Alclad. Your little diorama looks superb! From what I can see you've done a brilliant job on the figures as well.

Twenty kills - really? Big Smile (I know nothing about the aircraft or pilot - so just curious).

Greg

7474, kind of you to drop in and I sure appreciate your kind words. (If you don't see issues it's because I posted a low-rez image so you can't see them. Stick out tongue)

Hey Brandon, thank you!

Well thank you, Scott. That is very kind and cheers right back atcha!

Bruce, thank you for the kind words, neighbor (IN/OH). I do appreciate it!

And Bish found this too. Cool. Thanks my friend. I can't imagine you having much of a difficult time with much of anything model-related, but if you say so. If memory serves, one of your display bases might have been the first I'd ever seen. I remember thinking "that's a neat idea, I'll try that if I ever get brave enough to paint a standing figure and need a base". Toast

Well, i am glad i inspired some one Greg. My main problem when i first used it was wrong primer and not enough elbow grease to give a nice smooth finish. But i have learned since then and have 3 72nd Tamiya P-51's which i hope i can do justice on.

Piper13, thanks for taking the time to look and for your nice comment.

Gamera, thanks buddy! I appreciate it. And I agree about the Tamiya. It was a treat and I don't think I had any issues with it at all.

Hey, it's TOSHI! One of the reasons I finished this was to show you that I build a little along with talking so much. Smile Thanks for finding this thread and for commenting, my friend. Whenever you get around to trying Alclad you'll have no trouble with it. Ventilate and use a respirator though, it goes all over the place and I'll not be using it again until I get a proper vented booth.

Mike, thanks so much! Nice of you to find this thread and comment. Appreciate your kind words on the figures. I sort of went burn-out before I was really done, but that said much of what I did right I got from you, and the non-so-rights are totally me. I really, really respect what you fellas are able to to with 1:48 figures now, that's for sure. You make it look so darned easy, and it isn't quite that.

Vol, how nice to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my Mustang, it is appreciated.

Well it's Uncle Jay Jay. Surprise Definitely a treat to hear from you, and thank you for finding this and taking the time to comment.

Thanks for all of your support, you started out my Monday on a very nice, positive note. Coffee

That looks great, Greg! Great finish, great figures (especially for an adult first), and great base! They all look great together. Its nice to be able to finally comment on one of your completed builds. You've always  paid me that kindness.  :)

You really did a fantastic job on the Mustang build.  Especially with the Alclad!  That's something I have yet to try, and your figures and diorama are superb.  Great job sir!
