Thanks Mustang and PJ,
PJ I haven't tried hairspray but I've heard thet the "Weathering Effects" are not as drastic as hairspray but their "Heavy Chipping Fluid" is.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Hey Steve. Sorry that I'm late for the party, but the Val looks fantastic. You have done a super job on detailing, painting, and weathering.
How do you compare the AK chipping fluid to hairspray?
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Schuuweeeeeet!!! Fantastic looking build!!! Man that's a good lookin' Val there Steve!!!

Great job there Steve!!!!!
Kept meaning to comment and never got to it- guess I can finally comment now that you're finished.

Amazing work with this Val!
I love this aircraft and you have done a really good work with it. congrats!!
About the weathering effects ... i use too the worn effect from AK, but i like to mix with other different techniques. In my opinion with more variety of weathering techniques you use, more credibility yo have in the model. Is it almost ready no?? I look forward to see how you finish it.
NICE !! That turned out pretty sweet. Nicely done, Steve.

Thanks Mike and ridkeusmc. I used AK Interactive Worn Effects.
Excellent! I do like the chipping effect. Like Mike said, it looks appropriate and not overdone. What did you use as the chipping medium/fluid?
Nicely finished, MC! LOVE the effects!
Chipping looks appropriate and not over done.
My favorite part has to be those wing tips folded up.

This build looks like it's on it's way to the finish line. Looks fantastic! The real thing if you ask me!

The chipping is looking great, Steve. I love the weathering you have going here.
Lookin' goooooood, MC!
I still haven't tried that chipping technique or Mr dissolved putty, or perfect plastic putty. I am really curious to find out how those products would work for me.
But Mr. Coffee and me....
It is really looking sweet Steve. I think I might have to try the Mr. Disolved Putty while I am drinking my Mr. Coffee..... Sorry, I couldn't help myself. but really, it does sound like a good product. Watching this with interest.
coming along nicely Steve.

Thanks Mike,
I sprayed the Val silver, sprayed some chipping fluid and got one coat of JN green on before my air valve assembly quit on my AB. I have it soaking in thinner but don't hold out much hope for a fix. That will set me back a week or two. I really need to get a second AB.
I really like what you've done! Very nice scratch work! Love it!! :D
She's looking good Steve!
Cyber-Hobby is one company I've not built anything from yet. Looks like a pretty good kit!
I did some work on the Val's seams last night and got them smoothed out. I scratched the missing cockpit piece and need to scratch something to duplicate whatever is sitting on top. I also need to scratch the canopy braces but that should be about it.
Drawing of Val cockpit.
My silly futile attempt at duplicating the missing section. But if it works....
I have one of these in a hase 1/48. Looking forward to see what you do with it. Should be good.
Awesome Steve. Great to see more Japanese aircraft. I recently landed a Hasegawa 1/48 Midway Val. lol No idea when I'll get to that one.
Here are the pics I said I would upload.
