Time and effort well spent!  I really like the clear engine cowling and the glossy blue finish is great!

Here is the completed Trumpeter Corsair.  Although not as accurate as the Tamiya 1/32 kit, the cost of the Trumpeter F4U-1D was half the price of it's competitor.  

Fit and finish is superb and the build was extremely gratifying.  Adding the Big Ed Set is always a interesting addition.  And this kit efficiently utilized almost 75% of the PE.  The other 25% were so small with such complexed assembly procedures in that it was not only too small but not viewable as well.

Other than these minor issues, this kit was a blast in building it.  Decals went on without any fuss and it literally melded to the Corsairs surfaces.  I can strongly recommend this kit for the cost and efficient drafting design except that the cockpit was of a flat design and not a set up like a concave tube design. 

Anyway, I patiently will await for the newest Tamiya Corsair and I will purchase that Tamiya kit when the price goes down.  Until then I want to thank everyone for their input and support!

I still need to prep the drop tanks and rockets.  But this is as far as I got as I'm still caring for Mrs. Toshi and her rehabilitation.  Everything is going good.  That's what life is all about!

Toshi what you and the better half are going though sounds really frustrating. I'm glad you always seem to have a positive attitude, best wishes and prayers and you know we're here for you.

There's nothing to be negative about.  My philosophy is that if you're negative you'll be miserable.  So being positive is the key to happiness

Don't get me wrong, I cried and cried for a great deal of time, but after that I just wiped my tears and be strong for Mrs. Toshi.  For now, that's all I can do.

As for my Corsair, I've been so busy with all of this stuff, I had very little time for my building of my Corsair.  Sunday might be a good day so far for me to complete my Corsair.

Yes, this Corsair cant even touch the Tamiya level.  It is nice to put one of these together.   I've tried other brands that make Corsairs this build has been enlightining.  Unfortunrely, I haven't been at the bench. There's just the landing gear and decals.  Thank you for the kind words.

The Corsair is looking GREAT!  The fix for the wing issue is well done.  I figure they must have had one wing up and one down at some point.  This build has been fun to watch, as have all of your builds.

Yes I really love the way the Corsair looks.  It took a lot of CA and Tamiya putty to get this thing straight. lol!

Nice to see this corsair with some paint on it Toshi =]. It looks like the Trumpy kit doesn't quite match up with the Tamiya offering but you are definitely breathing some life into it. One thing I've learned over the last couple of years is to not always worry about a kit's accuracy but to embrace the challenge of whipping it into shape so to speak. A good modeler makes good models. =] 

We're getting to watch a good looking corsair. 

I hope you and Mrs Toshi are doing well. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Hey Toshi, this build is looking great!  It's great that you were able to take the problem of the broken wing and turn it to your advantage.  I think it will come out looking very unique, and awesome to see the gun bays in the straight wing.

The fixed position was the only solution to that.  Even after the thought, how was I going to attach the wing?  Well with a great amount of patience, CA, and Tamiya putty I was able to get things started again.  

I know the F4U-1D Corsair is not suppose to look like this, but that's ok.  It'll Definately make a great conversational piece!  lol!  Thank you MrStecks for supporting my thread!

I was shocked at hearing about Mrs. Toshi and my fervent prayers for her healing and your piece of mind are with you, my friend.

i am going to be looking for a 1/32 Corsair at the Orlando IPMS show the end of Sept. due to your marvelous inspiration here.  If I may ask, which kit in 1/32 scale do you recommend ?  Does one need the PE as well ?

 

Thank you for the prayers for my family and looking out for me.  Especially for the love of my life, Mrs. Toshi.  Your outreach is very heart felt and appreciated. 

For me, it's been a very difficult month.  I can only take one day at a time and pray.  My children encouraged me to get back into finishing or at least start building my Corsair.  

As for a recommendation of a 1/32 F4U Corsair, I highly praise Tamiya's offering.  They just came out with a brand new Corsair in 1/32.  I insure you, you will find this kit at the show.  Check online for reviews on this kit, also the new Corsair kit is mentioned in the new FSM.  

If I knew there would have been a new Tamiya offering, I would not have purchased the Trumpeter kit, although there's nothing wrong with the Trumpeter kit.  And purchase this new Tamiya Corsair!  I'm very excited about this new model.  I told my older brother about it and he said he would purchase this kit for me as a gift!  Yeah!!!

P.S.  As for this Tamiya Corsair, I feel it needs no PE.  But that's just my humble opinion.  Also since this kit has just been released, there might not be any PE from Eduard yet?
